Roof Rack..

Did a search and found nothing. But does anyone have a roof rack (bike rack) on their 3G TL? If you do, can you please post a pic and info on it?
Thanks in advance

Ya i am also very interested for the winter months. Meaning... i do not want it to be a permanent thing with drilling and such.

No not permanent. You'll need to set up the clips to align the rack properly, having a friend help will make this fast. Then after that it is just a matter of taking it on and off the car when you need it.

I bought my entire kit from REI but if you are on a budget, you should piece the components on craigslist and buy the clips (which are car specific) from REI.

You have two options when going for a roof rack on the TL:
Yakima (USA) and Thule (Sweden). I chose yakima because it is more affordable, the distance between crossbars is greater (giving you more loading options), and it's a more solid system.

For more detailed information, those two manufacturer websites would give you more than you want to know.

I use mine for both snowboards and bikes. Excuse the last cellphone picture but it's the only one I have with my bike mounted.

I am also intrested in getting the saris bones but does it clear the bike clear the bumper? The last think I want is my tire hitting my car every few seconds.

I remember when my snowboards were on and i had the bindings facing down the sunroof would hit them if i tilted it. If bindings were facing up or no boards there was no issue.

I can't see an issue with the bike rack pieces on because the mounting points are not below the cross bars.

It can tilt open without the fairing (wind deflector). With the fairing, it cannot. If you were able to, you wouldn't want to anyways. It gets loud.

The fairing is optional, it's purpose is to increase mpg and reduce wind noise.

It has to be in that position. Yakima designed the rack to be in that exact position for a number of reasons. If you move it further than what it's designed for, it won't be sturdy.

The location that I have the rack at is very firm, I can trust it hold 5 bikes if need be.
