Roof Rack
Roof Rack
I'm planning to buy a 2004/2005 TL and I also want buy a roof rack for my future TL. I live in Los Angeles, Ca. and hope to find a roof-rack to accommodate two pairs of skies and a snow board. I do not believe Acura sells this as an accessory yet.
As far a roof rack not becoming of a TL well, each to his/her own.
In my opinion, the new 2004.5 Volvo S40's look very sporty with a roof rack.

LOL. No. You can get a good deal on a Honda Odyssey before the '05s come out. Can't you just ride the bikes where you want to go and not drive them there? Isn't the point of owning a bike to ride it and not drive it where you want it to go? Just don't put a roofie on your TL, okay?

I'd rather see you guys give up snowboarding and biking than plop a fugly rack atop the TL. Please consider this option. Then again, a glossy walnut gun-rack on the rear window would look sort of coordinated against a Camel interior.
Boltsjam,
The TL is just another car that goes fast, vibrates and rattles! :-) It would look great with a Thule rack. I'm planning on buying a 05 TL, and plan to put racks on it to carry some rough wood and steel to make stuff out of. Maybe I will weld on some nice ornaments on the TL's hood to cover up the paint chips. If I postion the wood right and tie it down tight, maybe it will act like a wing and lift the car up enough so the flat spots on the tires won't make the car vibrate as much. ?
www.thuleracks.com lists a ton of accessories for the 04 TL.

But I like to know how they look, after putting it on.

My last automobile was a 1998 Honda CR-V. SUV's are soo last Adminstration!!! :cop:
Besides the TL is a sophisticated (sporty with a roof rack) automobile and it would it would look so cool with a roof rack with skies and snowboards!
Here's my thoughts on a roof rack:
I'm not giving up riding my bike when I buy a TL.
I have a Yakima roof rack for my CL and its served me well for several years, but has marked up the roof (though mosting from the faring) and is very noisy when I have the sunroof open.
My solution on the TL is simply to get the lowest rated trailer hitch I can find put on.
Then buy a hitch-mounted bike rack. These are very easy to take off and put on and minimize the possibility of scratching or otherwise marking the vehicle.
Its not an inexpensive solution but doesn't ruin the look of the car (if that's important to you) or the finish or create noise or decrease your gas mileage..
I'm not sure it solves the problem for skiers and boarders but it solves my bike problem!

Anyone found a trailer hitch for 04 TL?
I've been looking for a trailer hitch to mount by hitch mounted bike rack but haven't found anyone who sells one. Has anyone found a company which makes a trailer hitch for the '04 TL?
By Jove, I think you've got it!
