What size and finihs were nyou looking at?

Regarding the special, it says the special is available for the upcoming products section, Legend Type II only, The Regular 18" and 19" legend is no longer under the npreorder since production is over and the wheels are in transit. It doesn't say anything about the special on the Legend page seen here:
http://ronjonwheels.com/legend.html

Sorry for the confusion.

We've been considering making the Type II with a BBK clearing spoke, so that the lip would end up being slightly smaller, but would look the same. We'll see how it plays out, right now i'm just waiting on the Legend wheels to arrive.

Hey Ron... you could have holla'ed at me for quick test fit... 'cause that jacked-up rear fender messes up the whole look...

I must say... those 20" wheels actually look pretty good... too bad they don't fit over the BBK...

Thanks for the update Rondog. I will be ready to pull the trigger on my wheels next month. Not sure if you are going to have the wheels ready by then and I am sure you are going to stick with 20ies. I would really like to go with 19s. I had a set of 20ies and didn't really care for look.

Yeah,

I ordered mine too, cant wait to get them

Am I the only one who thinks the Ron Jon legends look strikingly similar to the EXTREMELY expensive AVUS "AF-MO1" FORGED WHEELS...... I thought these were so dam original until i came across these on an Aston Martin the other day i was like dam those look like the rims i am waiting for...

Just no lip, aside from that pretty much the same thing

The spoke design is the only thing similar IMO. The way the spokes curve out from the center then go straight to the lip (on the RJs) is completely different than the other wheels; those just go out from the center. The curve on the RJs is what makes them look so damn good, to me at least. The spoke pattern is hot, but the curve, dont know what you call it, really sets the rim apart from others.

Also on the RJs, the spokes have the part at the end near the lip where they get SLIGHTLY wider. Also adds to the effect of the wheel. Long story short, I think they look similar only in pattern, and think the RJs are 2434x better looking. I mean you can see the detail that went in to making the damn things.

Put it this way, Ever heard of people inventing things at the same time, like the jet engine and the race to break the sound barrier between all the countries. Well, I am a wheel designer for alot of existing wheel companies, and when ever you design a wheel, most likely its been done before or it has a similar style. But I always draw wheels from scratch, and I don't look other places for influence.

Whatever I design, i'm sure there is something out there that can be compared, but the most important parts of the wheels are in the details, and thats what i focus on. I design what i like and if it sells thats great, but I NEVER try to copy anything or anybody.

The factory and engineers had to change the original design little by little to allow it to be strong enough in certain areas of the neck of the spoke, but you can see how it morphed to what it is, then we decided to drop a 3.5" lip on it, without fake rivets, and it mended up looking the way it does. Besides, Avus is no longer in business I don't think, they had a poor marketing campaign and dumped millions of dollars into ads with the most expenive magazines for nothing. Now they went under, I wouldn't liek to copy a company that did so bad.

Here's the first design I did in raw form, looks different in original form, and these designs were done years ago, i only recently decided to produce them. I even approached Avus at SEMA about designing wheels for them back in 2004, when I had this same wheel in my portfolio, we arranged a meeting, but I was too hung over to actually meet at the hotel.

I think that would have been hot!! looks like the spokes stayed stright like the reg legend w/a smaller lip.

I think that wheel with a 2"-2.5" lip would have been money cause it would allow all us BBK guys to have a nice lip on the beautiful design of the legend!!

Ron, any chance you go w/ the numbers?

1.) Deep dish Inspyre in 20", Inspyre Type II 105 24.03%
2.) Deep Dish 7 spoke split in 20" with unique finish 57 13.04%
3.) 19" or 20" flush face 7 spoke split with unique finish 38 8.70%
4.) Cast version of Devotion wheel in 18", 19" or 20" 88 20.14%
5.) Add on urethane lip kit for the 2007 TL-S 102 23.34%
6.) none of the above 47 10.76%
Voters: 437.

The Deep dish Inspyre in 20 Type II & Add-on urethane lip kit for the 2007 TL-S are by far and away your winners. Was the Legend our only real option?

I'm wondering....'cause that is what wondering minds do

Rondog,

I got these info from your website so will the following fit 2005 TL

1. Legend RJ7/880/32/LS 5x114.3 18" 8.0" +32 64.1 Liquid Graphite TL-S, RSX, RDX
2. Legend RJ7/880/41/LS 5x114.3 18" 8.0" +48 64.1 Liquid Graphite TSX, Accord, CL

The reason I ask is that it does not show TL

Thanks.

Don't worry, I have started a new project for the end of 2007, its a 3 piece wheel with the Inspyre design in the center and a forged deep lip, 19" x 8.5" and 20" x 8.5" Silver center, Black Center and a Chrome option. My Supplier for the original Inspyre has agreed to make this one in 3 piece with a low pressure cast center for unlimited design capabilities.

As for the TL-S lip kit, as soon as these legends are sold, we will transfer those funds to start production on the kit, just one thing at a time.

anything that fits the TL-S will also fit the TL perfectly, 32mm offset is for you.

Quick question,

The 7 spoke flush face and the 7 spoke deep dish were the lowest voted choices in the poll, but you made them anyway....

It seems as if everyone has responded well to your decision, but what made you make the 2 least popular choices?

in the end i go off my gut feeling. besides, i like to try new things and offer more of a variety than just variants of the same thing. But don't worry, this next 3 piece wheel will be the ULTIMATE wheel, I am working on fine tuning the same design, and I'm thinking of mjust making it right away since it looks so damn hot already based oiff the designs.

19" will be BBK compatible, 20" won't due to the larger lip.

Ron, I have 2006 TL automatic. I'm planning to get the 19" inspyres real soon.... couple question:

1. As you know, 06 TL has TPMS sensor. So what should I do with 19" inspyres? When I order from you guys, is the TPMS sensor installed already? Do you charge more for the TPMS installed? So after I got the 19" inspyres, I'll just bring it to the shop where I'll buy my tire and install the tire-wheel, balancing, and mount it.
As alternative, I can use my previous TPMS sensor from stock wheel, as I'm going to sell the wheel and tires anyways... but transferring the TPMS from stock to 19" inspyres means that I have to take off the stock tire, wheel, take off TPMS, remounted, and rebalance the stock tire again. Probably the labor for that will be higher compare to just get new TPMS.

2. Now, for the tire size. Ronjon recommend tire size would be 235/35/19.... but ronjon said that 245/35/19 would have no problem too. Can you help with the decision. Should I get 245 or 235..... my first impulse would be getting 245, since I guess it's wider, so it should offer bit better handling and looks nicer. The only advantage with 235 is less speedometer inaccuracy, but I don't think it's too significant. So please let me know why should I get 245 or 235.

Thanks for the help Ronjon..... if any other users would like to input... I would really appreciate it also....

Peace,

Hey Ron must say the Legend rim is amazing and once i have some spare cash ill be ordering a set. i was checking out the new Rim with he lip on it. just my opinion but have you though about making the rim with the Spoke slowly curving out instead of in, i think it would better match the rim you already have, i think they look to different on a car if you got the regular legend on the front and this one

http://ronjonwheels.com/hidden/legendprototype/26.jpg

on the rear. just an idea, thanks.

We were thinking of doing that, but we have no wheels with any kind of lip in our line up, so we had to have something for those customers looking for a deep lip. Ya know? But I was close to going with a concave style liek you mentioned.

d1jey1, I sent you a reply to your email, received?
