RHO-PLATE (Relocate Front Plate to TOW HOOK) WOOT

YES... FINALLY SOMETHING SO COOL I CAN'T HELP BUT SHARE

I was on strutking.com and kept looking at this $16 pos mount... I had used one before and figured good idea but I didn't want to drill... and then it occured to me I had seen a g35 with the front plate on the tow hook... gotta love google...

http://www.rhoplate.com/Products.html

company is located in canada... they want $70 shipped for it... we should do like azine does and see if they would do a group buy

But this stuff is pretty easy to fabricate if you have a shop, cost will be like $5 bux...

There are plenty of sites selling such an front tow hook adapter..

Al, if you see here, all it is a modified hook, where the hook part is removed, and you are able to screw in a bolt instead... the rest is fairly simple.

Would you have anyone who can fabricate this?

I really like the idea, what's the hook bolt diameter size?

I can definitely see fabricating something like this

What keeps it from rubbing all the paint off the bumper where the contact point is?

they provide rubber pieces that stick to the plate. Any padding that you can implement will do.

it doesn't touch the bumper it is probably a few mm away from the bumper... I'd say probably 5mm away from the bumper...

Definitely a good find and unique approach to the states that require/ticket for no front plate...

The Rho-plate folks need to partner with AZ appropriately and market this thing well to Acura/TL owners.....

Nice find stillhere153

Ya know this is a really good find.

Ill admit reading the thread title I had some concerns, but after seeing it, it doesnt look all that bad.

If I start getting messed with for not having the front plate this will be the way I go.

Great find Stillhere

its a little too high up... if it was right below, next to the fog light. it would be pefect!!
it doesnt look that bad for the 3series, IS, even the impreza.. but it does look funny on the TL.

NICE FIND!!

Real nice find! I would like to not have a plate in the front but,, TX requires it and I don't want to give DPS any reason to pull me over., so... this mount would be a nice, custon install.

Stillhere, let us know if you can talk the vendor into a GB.. I am in if you can

The dealer installed "black box" plate holder rubs the paint anyway. Because the dealer monkeys install it gorilla-style.

Definately a great idea to relocate the plate. I am alittle iffy on how it looks doesn't seem like it looks right where its at. But hey its different.

Yeah I agree with the uniqness of this idea and the thought but it it does look a bit out of place and goofy. I just ride around with no front plate and I've been fine so far.

This definitely seems to be the minority opinion, but I think this is ridiculous. As BlacuraTL-S said, there's no symmetry.

i'm worried the bolt that's keeping it "5mm" from the bumper is probably not enough;

once you hit high speeds, it will probably fold back a little; it needs some degree of flex otherwise it might just snap. and because it needs to be able to flex a little; i'm worried the plate will keep putting pressure on one specific location day after day; basically, causing a dent.

also if the bolt DOESNT permit some form of flex; and is extremely rigid; isnt that a potential factor in performance lost; and also creates uneven force on the two sides of the car; (i mean this may just be complete BS ~ but it would seem like a valid thing to think about)

i have rubber insulator material in thin sheets, i can glue it to the back of the plate holder it wont make any marks on the bumper. we'll see. if Al comes through i dont mind doing it. It would be cool to see something different that works without zip ties

the NBP TL plate is nice...but once again it messes up the look on the front...the Tl on the left looks balanced...

the one on the right looks like it fell off and was put back on with a magnet or something...

IMO...it is keep it int he middle or dont have one at all...

looks to be base plate adjustable. so it can be placed a bit lower by using upper slots.

I just spoke to a few of my boys (who are cops), they said, none will pull you over if you have both plates... meaning you can stick the front any where you want to...but it just has to be visible...

I really want to relocate my license plate...but knowing how people park in NYC, the A C U R A imprint, within a month, those letters will change to spell out a different word....

People here park by sound, one they feel and hear the thump, they know they've went to far
