Review of 2 weeks with the TL

Have had the TL for two weeks now.(black/camel/AT/navi) I am a previous Saab and 3 series BMW owner. I considered most of the cars in this segment before selecting the TL. This is my first Acura product.

The car is a blast to drive. I normally travel in heavy Washington DC traffic but I've been able to put it through its paces in the Virginia foothills. Suspension and handling are as good as it gets for a FWD car. I'll concede that if you have the skill and inclination to push a car to the limits, a RWD has a few advantages but for 95% of the driving that most people do, this car will more than suffice. Excellent engine- smoother than the Saab and more responsive than the 325. I would be interested if anyone knows the torque curve for this engine. Torque bleeds off rapidly below 2k rpm but my guess is that you're getting close to full torque down to 3 - 3.5k rpm.

After two weeks I like the interior even more than in the showroom. I've always said that Saab has the best interior egonomics and instrument panel of anyone but I think the TL is as good or better in every aspect from seat comfort to panel layout. It seems a lot of thought went into the interior details. the only complaint I have is the lack of a fold down rear seat for those trips to Home Depot- but maybe I have no business using the TL for that purpose anyway! Of course, I think the body design is sharp- liked it the first time I saw it and still do.

DVD-A has great realism and depth. I've bought some DVD CDs and hope more titles will be released in this format. I'll definitely suscribe to XM when the trial period is over- you don't appreciate how good it is on a daily commute until you have it. An added advantage of the Navi is that the touchscreen makes the audio system, esp. the XM more user friendly. Still waiting for Sprint to come out with better Bluetooth phones so I have no comment on that.

IMO the car offered the best overall value in the entry luxury segment (or whatever you want to call it) and I haven't been disappointed. Everyone that I talked to who has had an Acura product for any length of time raved about the reliability.

Hope this helps if anyone is thinking about buying. Thanks to all who have offered care and maintenance advice. This is a very helpful forum.
