Question Reverse Gear Tilt-Down

The side mirrors on my 2005 TL, are supposed to have reverse gear tilt down. I can not find anything about it in the manual nor on the MID. Can someone explain what this is and how you set/use it?

Go take a look at your mirror controls. I bet the selector is in the middle. Switch it to L if you want the driver's side mirror to go down, and R for the passenger side.

Should have been in the MID. The new setup causes issues for people with OCD!

I need that switch to be in the MIDDLE!

Yeah, my BMW always lowered the passenger mirror regardless of the setting on the mirror selector. However, I have really liked being able to switch between the two.

I'm sure there is some modification somewhere that would make them both go down. Just have to find the right wires. Good luck with that. lol

Man, you hit that one right on the head! Drives me crazy, I have to keep hitting the mirror switch each time I want to use it. LOL

Just be glad they finally moved the sunroof switch to where it belongs... with ONE-touch button.

I feel so lost whenever I'm in a 2G TL or last gen Accords and need to work the sunroof.

UGH!! Love the tilt down feature, but really want both mirrors to go down when backing up.. Lots of little kiddies in the neighborhood, and I'd like to not run one over... Could get the backup sensors but would prefer not too..

Anyone with a mod on the double tilt down, PLEASE POST!!

When you put your car in reverse only one of your mirrors will reverse, but first you have to push the switch that you use to adjust your mirrors. If you want the right mirror to turn down, when you are backing up then adjust the switch to the right side, the same goes for the left mirror.

Hope that helps

I am glad I found this thread, it was really starting to bug me.

With my '01 CL-S, the switch could be in the middle, why in the world would they change it...oh well.

I think they gave you the option because if you are backing in to a curb on your right you would want to see the curb, but you would want your drivers side mirror to be level so you could check for oncoming traffic.

Your mirror adjustment switch has to be set for either the left or right mirror. Whichever it is set for tilts down when you engage reverse. If the mirror switch is in the middle position neither mirror will tilt down.

tilting mirrors

In order to get the mirrors to tilt in reverse.... you have to select which side u want to move... if it's the Right mirror, slide the switch for the mirror adjustment over to the R and then that mirror will tilt in reverse... the same will work for the Left.

hope this helps =)

I'm starting to wonder if people are even reading the thread before responding. The question has been answered about 4 times in this thread already...

By the way, the feature is very useful.

I for one am glad that it can be turned off. When I'm backing out of my garage I prefer them level. When parking on the street, it depends on which side of the street I'm on since I live on a one-way street. I think the current setup is perfect.

Good point!

Put the mirror adjustment control on the right mirror to have the right mirror tilt down and put it to the left to have the left tilt down.

Hope that helps.

Good luck.

And now it has been said 5 times. Why would we want to a thread with so much good and original information in it?

Let's go for a record and see how many more times we can be told how the tilt feature operates.

Well, if you move the switch over the mirror adjustment buttons to the left .....

Sorry Ron couldn't resist

Ron! Thanks for the support.

BTW, does anyone know how to make the driver's side mirror tilt down in reverse?

Only one of the side mirrors will tilt down. On the left of the steering wheel theres's a switch to adjust the position of the mirrors. Which ever mirror is active by that switch will tilt that mirror down. Or if it's in the middle position neither mirror will move.

So first select which mirror you want to tilt when you're in reverse. Put the car in reverse and it should tilt.

To put it kindly, this is five too many replies on how to make the mirrors tilt.
