Resetting MID prematurely does NOT mess up the future main't schedule
So, now that I've decided to take off that defective amsoil S2000 filter,(oil pressure warning light @ startup when sitting for more than an hour) oil life is at 30%, and 6000miles since last oil change. I wanted to do oil change while i'm at it. and am very bored right now.
I was wondering, if i can see that I'll be getting A12 when it reaches 15%, would resetting at 30% mess the future schedule up in a way, it'll pull everything in future forward and they'll come up prematurely?
I googled it and came across one on mdx forum but was not resolved so,,, asked the dealer :P
called acura dealer, they said I can bring the car in and erase just 1 and keep 2 for when it was originally due.
my thinking was, what if car thinks "21 oil changes then your timing belt is due" (now that i think about it, i don't even know why i thought it like that) and if i keep resetting it early, would timing belt job come up at like 80k?
I had the dumb idea because IF coolant change will be due @ 168243mls, then oil life is @ 80% at that mile, it won't come up until say, 172832mls when oil life goes down to 15%.
but then I realized, couple thousand more miles won't affect anything.
well of course the answer was "no"
service advisor told me every code A, B, 1,2,3,4,5 is calculated individually and from the point of reset of THAT code.
if anyone has more info on it, please reply.
(i do realize the only people who lie more than service advisors are salespersons, so don't hold it against me but i'm gonna believe them since it sounds plausible)
PS : I really want that acura computer... not for messing with MID, just so i can bleed ABS without actually engaging it.
