Replacing Windshield - Safelist a good choice?

Had a small crack that grew quickly and definitely need to replace the windshield.

I've never had to replace a windshield before, but the only name that comes to mind from a big company perspective is Safelite.

Any pros/cons using the big name like Safelite? I went through their website and the quote is $324.95 and there appears to be a place for a Promo code as well, but I have not been able to track one down online?

go with AGC automotive, it is the OEM brand. Used to be called APTech(theres a stamp on your oem windshield),name has changed to AGC, but still same glass. I got mine replaced for about $220. Exact same OEM glass without the acura logo.

I had Safelite attempt to replace a broken front passenger window in my 2002 Acura RL (previous vehicle). Well, they showed up to my house with a crystal clear replacement glass that didn't even remotely match the OEM glass (which was very green on the RL). It would have looked like shit TBH.

Well, I told the installer's politely that they might as well pack it up, so they called their boss. I overheard him screaming at them to install the glass, basically being a total jerk. Then he asked which insurance I have, to which I responded USAA. I could hear him curse a bunch more before telling his guys to "pack it up".

They showed up a few days later with a matching OEM replacement (Temperlite I believe).

Two things I learned that day:
1. USAA is the best.
2. Safelite is the worst.

Safelite will not be getting mine or my family's business at any point in the future.

Do not get "Safelite" glass or anything other than "OEM distributor" glass (which is the OEM-spec windshield with acoustic layer, just without the Acura/Honda stamp that "dealer glass" has).
You will need to request that Safelite install OEM distributor glass-- made by Pilkington and APTech/AGC (unsure if PPG also provided OEM windshields).

You can also call your insurer and see which glass replacement company it uses.

For more info on windshield replacement glass, start with the thread at: https://acurazine.com/forums/third-g...a-logo-817643/ .

Get an oem distributor glass. Safelite is aftermarket glass. AP Tech (now AGC automotive), pilkington, and PPG or (now PGW) ) are all OEM distributors..Same quality as OEM glass.

I've have two windsheilds replaced by in-house Safelite brand with absolutely 0 differentiation from OE visuals or degradation in acoustical properties.
