Replacement Ignitor and Ballast for headlights

Hey...I presently have my bumper and headlights out for a second time in the last 2 months. Originally, I thought it might just be the bulbs...but there appears to be more going on.

Question...does anyone have experience with this replacement ignitor/ballast assembly? It does not have the same seal around the ballast connector that the original part does.

The original is on the left...new one on the right.

Is it new? Is it OEM? Is it aftermarket? What are you after here? With this being exposed to the elements, I would be concerned with that connector not being somewhat protected.

It appears to be an non-OEM, OE-replacement part: https://www.theretrofitsource.com/hi...471-54550.html

The flat black gasket ring is transferable. It's just a foam washer that you can remove. It's to prevent moisture entering your headlights through the ballast hole.
The part you're most likely questioning is the black rubber covering the connector from the ignitor to the ballast. This seal is apart of the ignitor.

If the old ignitor is working fine, you can plug it into the new ballast and you'll have a "sealed" system.
If not, you might need to come up with a solution such as cutting a slot into the old ignitor's seal to be able to transfer it to slip it off and transfer it to the new ignitor and using silicone to close the slot after.

Thanks...I'll give the gasket another look. It did not look transferable.

The part was marketed as an OEM part.
Amazon Amazon
and most of the parts available online do not seem to come with the gasket.

I was just curious in anyone else had installed this on their car and had any issues.

Don't change ignitors or ballasts ever! That's when they go out.
