Replace Trunk Opener Bulb - 10 minutes or less
Replace Trunk Opener Bulb - 10 minutes or less
I was never sure if the trunk opener switch by the driver's left leg was supposed to be backlit or not. However, after looking at bulbs, parts, etc I realized it was and that my bulb was out. My TL is not under warranty so I decided to do it myself.
Parts:
(1) 35850-SEP-A01, BULB 14V 40MA - $3.42 from DelRay Acura.
- My Dealership & Acura E-Store charge $12.84 for this bulb.
Labor:
Remove Driver's Dashboard Lower Cover
- 1 screw/clip, 10 clips
Total Time: Less than 10 minutes
Why am I posting this? Because unless your car is under warranty, this is just another example of an inexpensive DIY alternative to giving away money to the Stealerships.
And, for some reason, not having all my interior lights working really annoys me!

Thanks. For those unfamiliar, that bulb can be found under the "Switch" parts diagram.
I did this during my lunch break. I also have to replace the passenger side heated seat bulb that acts as a backlight, not the amber bulbs that indicate high or low.
I'm doing this after work today. Shouldn't be that difficult. Just more sections to remove: Center Console Rear Section, Dashbloard Lower Cover (again) and Center Console Panel.

let me know how u get to the heater part
What exactly is supposed to be lit on the dash? I have an 06 a feel like a bunch of lights are out. The heated mirror one, the one under the reset button for the mid (for scrolling), what about on the steering wheel? Only the 'talk' buttons are lit... are the cancel buttons supposed to be? Sorry, this stuff has had my wondering for quite a bit.

to the OP, thanks for posting the bulbs needed. Now I just need to replace the bulb in the trunk. I can't see squat in there if that's the only available source of light.
Replacing the bulb in the trunk is a piece of cake. Do a search, there are plenty of threads on this topic. Go with an LED bulb, makes it so much brighter.

Here's a good thread on replacing the steering wheel buttons, complete with pics.

1) Simply remove the two aluminum trim pieces
2) Then unfasten the rear center console (only 4 screws).
Slide that section backwards to expose the heated seat switches.
3) Remove the silver tape covering the bulbs, then remove middle bulb by screwing counter-clock wise. Insert new bulb, seat it by screwing clock-wise.
Sorry, no pics!
