Replace Driver Side door - help

Hi all,

I have a 2004 TL, Blue Pearl Exterior, and light grey interior. The driver side door is dented in multiple places, long scrapes. I'm thinking the most economical thing to do is try and get a replacement from a junkyard. Is it relatively simple to replace a door? I did a search on Car-part.com. I got one result for a 2004 Blue door. In the description, they have the following codes, LH,BLU,PW,PL,NICE ,000 . I would think that those codes mean Left Hand, Blue, Power Windows work , Power Locks work, Nice condition? They have it listed for $275. Is that usually negotiable? Would I have to remove it myself? Do you think they would discount it if I replaced it with my door, or would mine with heavy dents be worthless to them? Is there much risk in the color not matching mine well enough?

Obviously, you can tell I don't know what I'm doing. Any advice anyone has for me would be appreciated. I've got my second of three kids in college now, so funds are tight, I don't have a lot of money to spend on this.

Can't you just PDR it? how bad is it? I'm not sure how well the colors will match.

I'm guessing since I don't know what PDR means, then I probably can't do it?

PDR - Paintless Dent Removal. Essentially removing dents and no paint work required............... You might be able to do it but there are pros that do it for a living.

PDR-Paintless dent repair
The code 000 indicates no damage and they probably have the door removed, or they will remove the door. Not too many self service salvage yards around any more.
Not a major job, but you'll need a jack to support the door and wiring needs to be unplugged along with the lock assembly, or you'll have a different key, and not certain whether that would be compatible with the security system. As far as condition, take a look before you purchase.

Security system shouldnt be an issue because the ECU will control that. So long as the lock actuator still works and wiring is there. . The door clock cylinder will probably need to be swapped over.

I brought up PDR because it may be cheaper than the door (pure speculation with no experience though)

Thanks for the help everyone. The existing dents are not easily repairable. They are long scraping dents. A couple more questions:
  1. I assume that I can use a door from 2004-2008 TLs? There is nothing different with the electronics, right?
  2. I am also assuming that the color should match well enough?
  3. Are the prices listed usually negotiable? Are they returnable if I get it home and the window or locks button doesn't work?

I'm sure they have a DOA warranty. Prob best to ask the seller these questions, not us

Price flexibility certainly depends on the yard, supply, etc, but no harm in asking. Sometimes a cash sale helps, no tax etc, but once again ask.
Believe the '07/'08 has extra wire for turn signals in mirrors, but no problem swapping yours over.
You're assuming that the door comes fully loaded with all the accessories, but you're only buying the door shell, so make certain everything there.

No extra wires, the '07/08 drivers door mirrors are plug 'n play on '04/5/6 and the turn signal works!

After all, in '04, the models above and below (the RL and the TSX) had turn signal mirrors. The 1st 3000 '04 TL's produced had turn signal mirrors on the window sticker while the cars came without. Proof positive someone inside Acura screwed up!
