Repetitive Tint Question
Hey guys,
I am thinking about tinting my 2004 Silver TL soon. I have read the posts in the 3G garage and searched the forum, and it seems that the best way to go is to spend $30 for that "kit" that one of the members are selling.
Before I order it, I just wanted to ask you guys if this is really the best way, or if there is a cheaper way that will be fine.
I am going to install the moleskins myself and let my tinter take care of the tint job.
Thanks all.

Nobody has found a better/cheaper way to prevent tint scratching. The kit being offered has precut lengths and the instructions are simple and precise. Until Acura comes up with a solution, I feel this is the best way.

I had heard many on the board complain that it scratched with the moleskin applied as well. I live with some light scratches on the windows. You cannot see them from outside of the car atleast....only see them from the inside when it is a really sunny day.

just got mine tinted w/o moleskin and my rear doors are the ones that have the scratch. thought it would be the front ones
. just like coop said, they can't be seen from the outside, but can in the inside. i don't mind though. it's light scratches and i'd rather have that than no tint during the summer time in california, with black leather

Moosh I do not have moleskins, The guy that did my tint said not to get the moleskins becuause it will still scratch. he said he would do them. but it is not worth my money. He said it is the dirt in the sills that cause the scratch. It is a catch 22....I have a NBP/Ebony and the 22% tint looks fantastic from the outside. I can deal with some lines on the inside, hell, I had white lines on the windows when there was no tint at all. I went to a tint shop in Haverford on RT. 1 Haverford ave. $195 for entire vehicle. Let me know if you need info for the shop. PM me.
Thanks

Ha!! Yea i was confused at first because I thought it was you. Yea Peter did a good job,. THis car just sucks for tint though with the scratches...I dig so much dirt out of those sills every day to prevent the excess scratching.

I ordered that $30 kit for moleskins. I am going to install them myself and then have my tint guy tint my windows. I'll let you know what happens.

No I am going to Intensive Care, its a place like 2 blocks down my street that just started tinting. I have taken my car to be hand washed there a few times and they have done a nice job.
I met the tinter and he was a very pleasent fellow. I saw him tint this Toyota convertible and it seemed like he knew what he was doing. I actually pointed him to this forum so he might visit it sometime.
Also, the owner of the store is gonna contact a wheel repair specialist to repair the two scratch/chipped wheels i have, and the one minor curbed wheel I have. I hope the price is not too high and the person does a good job.
