To repair or not.....
To repair or not.....
I stupidly reversed into a wooden electric pole, leaving a dent and 2 small cracks in the back bumper cover. Visually, it is not extremely noticeable but it is damaged enough to leave me contemplating a $600 repair bill and the included hassle.
Assuming the damage is entirely cosmetic and only affecting the bumper cover (I hope), which course of action would you take? Furthermore, assume you plan milking this new car for 10 years (gasp!), happily making $550 payments for the next 66 months.
a) get the car repaired with a newly painted bumper cover for $600.
b) live with the guilt.
c) live with the guilt and secretly hope to be involved in a MINOR rear end collision, allowing the offender to pick-up the tab.
d) go to my dealer and scream about the paint on the bumper not being a perfect match with the body and hope to get $300 worth of the repair cost reduced.
Feel free to flame me with the obligatory “f) you’re a loser, learn how to drive” takes…

If it's just the bumper, I'd order one (over the internet for the best price) and install it myself (had to take mine off to install the body kit, it's not too difficult). If it's more than just the bumper I'd do option A.
Good luck with it.

Just get it fixed. You've posted your dilemma, so clearly you don't want to live with it. You won't miss the $600 a year from now, but if that dent is still there you'll still be pissed about it.
