Renovation for your dashboard in minutes
Whether you’re parked or keep cruising down the road, the harmful UV rays will find you everywhere you go. They gradually destroy your dash board, drying it out and making it look like an old boot left in the desert sun. And sooner or later, you find yourself sitting in a car with a discolored, cracked dash skin and a nagging feeling that something is missing. Have a worn out dash or cracked door panels? Awesome overlays by Coverlay Manufacturing, Inc. will breathe new life into your damaged interior in minutes! When designing and manufacturing its dash covers, replacement door panels, instrument panel covers, and door kick panels, Coverlay uses all the knowledge and experience it has gained over more than 30 years of existence.
Made of super durable ABS plastic, the dash covers, door kick panels, replacement door panels, and instrument panel covers are built to last. In addition, all of them are vacuum-molded from the original dash to ensure a factory look and perfect fit.
When it comes to the installation, there is nothing easier than to simply place the ready-to-use dash cover on the top of your original part. No special tools, skills, or instrument removal are necessary.
It is available for Acura TL 2004-2008. You can check dashboard covers for your model here: Coverlay Dashboard Covers & Door Panels at CARiD.com

I'm pretty sure there's already 3G users with a cracked dash using this dash cover with great success from pics I've seen. Definitely a low cost solution compared to getting the dash fixed at the dealership or going through the trouble of making them pay for it since it's a defect.

I know cloth covers have a flap, but this looks like a complete unit.

Interesting. As mentioned, it seems like a low cost solution for those who already have a cracked dash. As Turbonut mentions, I would be interested to see/hear what implications there are for passenger side airbag deployment. Also, it appears that black is not a color option and would expect there would be a decent demand for that color, no?

I guess I didn't scroll down far enough in the color options AND I looked twice because as I mentioned, I would have figured black would be a big color -

I like it! I'd rock that.

It's not a cutout, it's more of an indentation in the cover, but still wondering if the additional thickness, no matter how minimal, will cause a slower deployment of the airbag. I realize we're speaking of milliseconds, but still would like validation that the unit causes no interruption with deployment.

if you look at youtube videos of people blowing up airbags for fun, you can see that they can send chairs with people on top of them flying.
I'm also interested in how it installs. is it just silicone all over the underside? or are there certain attachment points? how stable is it once installed?

I'd like to know this too. However, I realize the an airbag explodes with an extreme amount of force, so a little piece of plastic isnt likely to put any measurable decrease in deployment time. The airbag alrdy has to blow through the stock dash anyways, I feel like adding 1 extra layer of plastic may not affect it at all. But, I'd like to hear what the company says anyways.

The ABS plastic of the cover is scored where the airbag is so I really don't believe it would matter

That I can't say, but I cannot imagine being unable to either peel off the silicone based adhesive in one go (depending on the the adhesive type) or using a solvent (nothing too harsh not to ruin the dash itself) to remove it with some rubbing with a rag.

Looks really good. I'll purchase if my dash happens to crack *knock on wood*
Doing everything within my power to keep it from cracking though.

I signed up for the wholesale account from the makers of these. I ordered one and will be checking it out. Looks good and cheap fix, but I actually sueded my show TL dash since I got a small crack. From what i'VE noticed is that people who garage/use sunshade/garage park seem to have their dashes crack, when I started to use a garage thats when mine has a small mark.

Thank you for your feedback, guys! And polobunny - thanks for the pictures, I'm sure it is useful for other users. As for the dashboard, Coverlay works few month on each dashboard to make sure it has perfect fit and quality. All their parts are tested, before they released into production. However, they do not provide any exact information concerning airbags.

Our '04 purchased in '06 (30k miles) already had the airbag cover outline imbedded in the pad. At first we even thought it was a sticker that might have been applied to the pad, but after many treatments, that eyesore was gone and has never been seen since.
For the people that have the cracks, rather than a costly replacement, the cover might just be the answer. Interesting to see your thoughts after examination and how it looks after installation as the edges/openings will be raised, probably a different texture, but which looks better, a nice clean cover, or an OE pad filled with cracks.

I'm hoping that acura does the same thing Toyota just did. Toyota sent a recall letter saying they will replace the dash in my 04 4runner for free. It has a cracked dash similar to my 04 tl, and looks like the same material used.

We got the same warranty extension letter for my wife's Lexus. Reimbursement if we already had it repaired/replaced or extension of warranty to 10 years.
