Removing The Rev Limiter

Removing The Rev Limiter
Does anyone know how to remove the rev limiter on the 07 TLS? I believe it revs to about 4900 rpm and doesn't go higher. I want it to go to at least 7000 or 8000 rpm. Do you think I have to take it to Acura to do this or can I do it myself?

I thought the redline was 6,800rpm on our 3G Type-S's? Maybe it's different for how it shifts between a 6MT and 5AT? If you're talking about just revving the engine when you are at a standstill, having the e-brake engaged will limit the revs, but I think even that limit is around 5,500rpm.
Maybe I'm just misunderstanding your question dr_brains510?

what I meant was when the car is in park, you can rev up to only4900 rpm and it won't go any higher right? So how do I remove that so it can go all the way to about 7000 rpm for example.

Why do you want to rev that high while in park?

I like the 5k rpms limiter... makes people think your car revs so quick it gets to redline fast... lol nissan guys always are shocked... like vroom fuel cut off and they're like wow
if I bang rev.limit/redline I backfire... so you already know

One of the dumber requests I've seen in a while.
Why do people think they know what's OK for their cars better than the engineers who designed them? This makes no sense.

Maybe if u do it continously then that would not make any sense. When I had my is300, it would rev up to 7k in park mode. Now I didn't get it there every time I sat in the car. So that was the whole question I was asking. I just wanted to know if you could do it. By the way, it is not bad for the car if you do it occasionally. So don't tell me it is.

Thats an excellent idea! Why dont you do that and I will sit here and watch!
Dude....you typically dont want to sit there and redline in park or neutral without a load on the engine. Many bad things can happen.
You dont want to do that at this point anyway, otherwise you are going to have to hang around here looking like this!

What exactly can happen if you are redlining in park. Just wondering I don't believe in killing my cars that way, at least not at a stand still. I just noticed that today when I was working on my car. I guess I never noticed because there would be no reason to rev that high in neutral or park.

Maybe it's old school but I've never thought anything good could come from reving with no load. Either that or having to pay for the dumbf_ck mistakes I made when I was in my young 20s smartened me up. (was that to subtle?)

life on the engine and it revved all the way to the redline. Or you could easily drop to neutral while driving and floor it to see if it is true.Guys hold off all the rude comments, i have been enlightened enough in these few months that revving the engine pointlessly is Stupid.
Will anybody confirm ?

Imagine if you're at the drag strip, and you have a 6MT. You're in 2nd gear, and almost at redline. Then you shift, but miss, and hit 1st. Revs go wayyyyyyy high, much too high for the car to handle and bam.

The 6MT will rev all the way in Neutral.
I was stupid enough some months ago to actually like doing that. I actually used it instead of the horn .Uh, what a difference being 17 makes !
I stopped when i found out it wasnt exactly good for the engine and one of my passengers told me i was being a Jerk.

I'm not going to say much. Straight to the point, yes it is bad for you to redline while you're parking. I rev when I enter parking sparks, but nothing over 4k. Just gotta make a good entrance =D
