Removing rear window tint
Removing rear window tint
I just bought a 04 TL two weeks ago. Took it to get state inspection and failed because the rear window tint is to dark so i have to remove it. To remove it is it going to damage and of the rear defrosters? Is this something i could easily do myself or should i have someone do it? Thanks
Never actually had to do it but i know people that have and said how much of a bitch it is to do.
tough to get it off without messing up the defroster..id pay a tint place to do it, just my opinion

I recently removed all of the tint from my 06 other than the back window. It wasn't too bad, but it wasn't fun either. I have considering removing the back myself, but may get a price to have a place do it for me. I think you'd be alright if you use a lot of liquid and use only a plastic scraper when removing the adhesive. A razor blade will destroy the defrost wires.
dont touch anything to the rear tint!!!
search internet for removing tint and it says a wet towel on the rear deck and a hair dryer or heat gun or car in the sun-- to make steam from the towels- that will break the bond of adhesive and you can gently peel off the tint
Good chance of wire damage so it can be worth it to pay a tint shop

Thanks for the help guys. I found out my friends uncle does inspections so maybe i can go to him and he will just let that part slide so then i wont have to get it removed and then put back on.
