Removing lip spoiler.

Has anyone removed the lip spoiler? I want to install a "traditional" spoiler but I'm worried that removing the lip will reveal unsightly holes, and damage on the hood.

by lip spoiler do you mean the rear spoiler? and by hood, do you mean trunk?

might help to know what you're talking about exactly. what kind of spoiler?

I was half asleep when I wrote that, and still am. But I have a lip spoiler installed on the trunk.. came with the car. I want to remove it and install a wing spoiler. So yeah.. Is the lip spoiler glued on? or screwed into the trunk?

It's most likely screwed on, and yeah you will have holes.

I bought it from Acura, and before I had it I'm sure it was a lease. So it should be OEM.

On my way to work this morning I saw a 07-08 base TL in GOLD! The guy had a wing spoiler looked OEM. But it made the car look better to me.

And that's all that matters.

I'm pretty sure the lip spoiler is bolted onto the trunk. Maybe Rockstar will chime in; he's switched spoilers out a time or two.

It looks like that's the consensus. The only way this would work is for the OEM wing spoiler to use the same bolt holes as the lip.

If you get it, be sure to get it in the right color. There's SSM and ASM.

You could trade trunks with someone who has the rear spoiler and same color car and wants a lip instead.

That’s not going to work, I see you have a 04. My 07 has the backup cameraattached to the trunk.

Plus what am I going to do.. Take off my trunk and ship it to you? Fine butI will be driving around with no trunk until I get yours! lol I’m not tradingtrunks sounds like too much trouble. Thx anyway.

I had the lip spoiler on my old TL and it has 2 bolts, one on each end, along with the crappy 3M double sided tape. The wing spoiler will have 2 bolts on each side. If you're going this route, you'll have to fill in the old holes and then they'll re-drill for the wing spoiler. IMO, the lip spoiler looks cleaner . . . but it is your car.

I have a 2007 TL Type-S that came with the OEM lip spoiler. I removed it and put on the OEM wing spoiler. The lip spoiler is bolted down and when removed leaves a row of seven holes across the trunk. Two new holes, at each end, have to be drilled, for the wing spoiler.

I used flat body plugs and waterproof glue to cover the holes left by the lip spoiler. Some may say it looks like crap, but I have only had one person notice the plugs. I figured some day the trunk will need a repaint an I will have the holes filled, at that time.

The type of spoiler is a matter of preference. If you like the wing, slap it on there, it is your car.

Sorry for poor quality close up pics. The car was filthy and I took the pics in the dark.
