Removing decklid spoiler

Hi, I bought a decklid spoiler recently and it is currently held by 3M tapes firmly to the trunk. However, I find I have to adjust it a bit so would like to remove it and retape it. What's the safest way to remove it without damaging the paint?

Thanks!

Start from one corner and pull on it using Goo-Gone or Oops. While doing so, try to pick as much 3M tape with the spoiler so that you don't have to go back and scrape it off later.

Just be very careful pulling as that tape sticks good and might lift the clear.

Make sure its warm.

The methode I use is I saw the tape off with fishing line or dental floss. Them use a littl heat and roll the remaining foam off with you fingers .. any glue residue us goo-gone.

Wipe the area with IPA before resetting with new tape.

Yup, A Hair Dryer will work perfect. Thats what ALOT of people use when debadging (I did).

What I did was kind of restrict the air coming in from the back, by holding my palm close to the intake so that there was less air going in and the air coming out was hotter.

Warm section by section. For example, Heat a 3-6 inch section up, then use kite string or fishing line (dental floss shreds TOO easily) then saw through the tape, leave the string/line there heat more, and saw again; keep doing that till your done.

Afterwards go with goo gone to remove the residues.

My recommendation after you get the good gone completed, polish out the area to remove any scratches that were caused and then use IPA to clean the new area and reapply with new 3M tape.

I rebadged the rear A logo, and didnt polish before I stuck the new one on, and CANNOT get the scratches out. GRRRR

Hope this helps, and good luck.

Yeep or very carefully with a heat gun.

Black cars you can set it in the sun for a while.

In reality the hair dryer etc takes forever to get the heat to where the glue is .

It just aids in sawing off the foam portion of the tape.

Use a 3M eraser wheel with a power drill. Much easier and much faster to remove glue than any other method. My buddy has a body shop and he swears by them when he has to remove emblems, pinstripping etc ...... No risk of damaging the paint whatsoever.
