removing 2006 TL steering rack

Good afternoon,
After completing the swapping of the engine I see oil on my driveway.(engine is running strong) My first Acura and love the power!! Glad it wasn't the engine but it is the steering rack which appears to be another big job to replace. I wish I would have noticed it when the engine was out, seems it would have been a breeze to replace it. My question, can the rack be removed from above? Remove the cross bar, cat, exhaust, rear motor mount and free up room to remove the rack. Has anyone done it this way? I saw a short video of somebody saying its possible. If not it looks like a pain having to lower the subframe. Is this is the only way to remove it? I have the tools and time to do the job but just checking to see if anyone out there know of any pointers on quickest way for this job? Currently the driver side boot is torn and leaking. I am also thinking its rebuildable replacing the seals since any unit for sale on the different web sites are remanufactured. Thanks in advance.
Ray

It'll be much easier in the end to drop the subframe to remove it.
