Remove cigarette lighter socket DOOR

i'm trying to remove the PITA door that springs shut on the power accessory outlet below the radio/navi system. it doens't seem that hard but just a pain, so i was wondering if anyone has an easy way to remove the spring or if it's even possible without pulling off the dash panels.

thanks!!

nevermind...i just took a needle nose pliers and removed the spring lock and then slid the cap up on the pin to come off the top....then slid it down to remove it from the bottom and then it just came off nice and easy. now i just need a plug so the outlet doesn't short out.

anyone know where to get one cheap?

I have a question about this thread - so the wooden hinge door that conceals this compartment (the one you press on to close shut/open) how do you remove this door? It gets in the way when I try to use a phone mount that plugs into the power outlet. Or is it not possible to remove this easily? Thanks!

I'm not sure how to remove that door. But I thought I would mention there is another power outlet in the center counsel (the deeper section). That is the one that i use.

If you want to remove the door and re-use it later, it's best to take apart the dash and remove just the console unit to remove it that way.

If you don't care, then just go to town.
