Check out the HomeLink site: http://www.homelink.com/training/train.taf It'll give you the info you're looking for if you're referring to a garage door or gate opener that is.

Is that what you mean by remote transmitter? Or are you referring to the keyfob?

PROGRAMMING THE REMOTE TRANSMITTER (KEYFOB)

Storing transmitter codes.

The codes of up to three transmitters can be stored into the keyless receiver unit memory. (If a fourth code is stored, the code which was first input will be erased.)

NOTE: It is important to maintain the time limits between the steps. Make sure the doors, the hood and the trunk lid are closed.

1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II)

2. Within 1 to 4 seconds, press the transmitter lock or unlock button with the transmitter aimed at the keyless receiver unit behind the driver’s side of the dashboard.

3. Within 1 to 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch OFF.

4. Within 1 to 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch ON (II).

5. Within 1 to 4 seconds, press the transmitter lock or unlock button with the transmitter aimed at the keyless receiver unit behind the driver’s side of the dashboard.

6. Within 1 to 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch OFF.

7. Within 1 to 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch ON (II).

8. Within 1 to 4 seconds, press the transmitter lock or unlock button with the transmitter aimed at the keyless receiver unit behind the driver’s side of the dashboard.

9. Within 1 to 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch OFF.

10. Within 1 to 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch ON (II).

11. Within 1 to 4 seconds, press the transmitter lock or unlock button with the transmitter aimed at the keyless receiver unit behind the driver’s side of the dashboard.

12. Confirm you can hear the sound of the door lock actuators within 1 to 4 seconds, then push the transmitter lock or unlock button again, or the code will not be stored.

13. Within 10 seconds, aim the transmitter (up to two additional ones) whose codes you want to store in the keyless receiver, and press the transmitter lock or unlock buttons. Confirm that you can hear the sound of the door lock actuators after each transmitter code is stored.

14. Turn the ignition switch OFF, and remove the key.

15. Confirm proper operation with the transmitters.

NOTE: Once the programming mode is entered, the remote button must be pressed a second time. If the button is not pressed, or if the ignition switch is turned OFF, the programming for all remotes will be cancelled.

Hey Ron --

Do you know if there is a way to change the driver associated with each Key FOB? I can get the new FOB to program without issue, but I was sent a #2, when i needed a #1, and I am trying to figure out how to assign the new #2 to driver #1.

Thanks in advance for any help

You can't do it. The 1 and 2 are programmed into the remote and as far as I know cannot be changed. That's why there are different part numbers for 1 and 2. Who made the mistake and sent you the wrong one, or did you order the wrong one? If it was a dealer they should make it right with a simple exchange.

That totally makes sense now. I will have to go ahead and send it back to get the new one. I wanted to make sure I could not change it before I went ahead and sent the remote back. I was hoping it was something I could fix easily.

Thanks for the super fast response!!

Thanks a lot for the HomeLink site link. I just got my garage door opener replaced today. I couldn't get it working, even though I followed the instructions in the Acura manual and the garage door manual. (And I did get the HomeLink to work with the previous garage door opener, though I remember that was a puzzle too.)

That Homelink website was really helpful -- besides entering the car and garage door model, it lets you print the manual and see a video of how to do the steps. Somehow seeing the red light blink in the video, I finally understood the 2-part process for dealing with rolling-code transmitters.

Between the Homelink help and the XM for $77, this website's been a ton of help.

(The funny thing is, it looks like the original question was really about re-programming the keyfobs for driver1 and driver2, not the homelink. But this was the best thread I saw for Homelink!)

Whats the difference from programming this method than getting a locksmith/dealer to cut/program the 07 TL keys?
