Refusing service
Refusing service
They told me my warranty will be void if I refuse a TIRE ROTATION in the A1 service. I'm not giving them 30 dollars to rotate my tires when they are coming off in two weeks anyway. They have to be kidding right?
no, I work for American Honda and have never heard of such a thing.
Talk to the Service Manager and tell him that the Service Advisor threatened you that he was going to void your warranty.
Get his full name and report it to the service manager.
good luck
plus, theyre only a dealership. They cant void your warranty.

Unfortunately fear motivates and everyone seems to want to use it on the unsuspecting.
For every one person that looks at them as if they are crazy when they pull that "scare them with the void the warranty crap" nine more [lambs] buy the line and have the tires rotated. Eight of those nine would probably never rotate their tires unless reminded to so in the end they may be helping 80% of their total customers get more even wear and life out of their tires. That in itself really is of value and service to those customers. But to folks like us the delivery of their message is simply infuriating since we know what they are up to.
Saying "Hey it's a good idea for you to rotate your tires so they will wear evenly" doesn't bring in as much revenue as "You will die or void your warranty if..."
Did they try and sell you nitrogen too?

the girls that answer the phone dont know squat and say things wrong all the time- they are just trying to book appointments without regard to whats going on each day-- Its up to you to read the owner book and know what needs to be done
Dont even need the dealer to do the work- any shop can do it and give receipt- thats all you need
You can DIY and keep a maitenance log on your acura.com account for the car

rotating tires on the TL just wears all 4 out at once- great for the salesman who gets commission but not great for those on a tight budget
I went over 20kmiles on general uhp with NO rotating-
fronts are down to the bars and show an alignment/toe issue- rears still plenty of tread and no abnormal wear
Car is l.5" lowered on teinSS neg camber -1.4 degrees
Rears will now go to the front, You ALWAYS put the best tires on back for max grip-- for less chance of back end coming around at a bad time~
get an alignment and I'm out of there for under $250, vs another 200+ for 2 more I can get in a year

nitrogen is cool if you track day, or its free~
I use it on the bike because of the wide range of tire temps it can go thru in a single ride
On the car- it will reduce the air loss thru the rubber molecules but not stop it
If top-offs are free, go for it
The rest of us can live on regular air
I just read a thing where a someone told a guy and he believed it-- that you have to remove and refill all the tire air twice a year or the air goes bad or something- but he does it!

and for best performance I would keep all the tires the same.....
That said, I am also a tech at Acura, and I agree with dhong87, they can't void your warranty for that.
They like to threaten. When I had my axels replaced under warranty they did it under good will and next time I would have to pay. They did that because I was a young kid 19 and its not my fault they broke, taking off in a 6mt sometimes in rain and such it wheel hops and over time it got damaged. dealers suck. Besides they cant void your full warranty for refusing a tire rotation, an electrical problem has nothing to do with tire rotation.
ask any respectable tire shop and they will tell you the best tires go on back -doesnt matter front or rear drive car- best on back
If the back end breaks loose on a rain slicked corner and tries to pass the front--its a bad situation- first you see the inside wall then the outside- then brakes dont work and make it worse-
No way to be in control and car will spin out or fishtail
With the best `water channeling/removal ability` on the back- you should be ok right up to the critical moment of loss of traction from hydroplane by speed
If the front washes out -you dont have enough tread on them anyway and needed 4 tires BUT its a controlable situation- get off the gas and recover
Go ASK other people like the store manager at tire store or read online and you will see this is truth- best tires on back

oops-sorry about that-With the OEM tires I would get them rotated/balanced every other oil change. With the Yoko's I have now I have them done every oil change. The michelin's lasted 74,000 miles. I doubt the yoko's will but I am hoping.
