Red oily substance in oil.

Red oily substance in oil.
Had my '04 TL brought in a second time in a 1 month span because the engine service light indicator was on. The Acura service adviser told me it was due to a "red oily substance" in the upper intake (INT channels) that was causing the INT flaps to stick. The adviser said the "red oily substance" originated from the oil and I was repeatedly asked if I put some sort of enhancer in the oil/gas tank. I have never put an enhancer in the oil or gas tank and all of my oil changes and service has been at the Acura dealership. Needless to say I'm dumbfounded over where this "red oily substance" is coming from and was hoping someone might have a plausible explanation.

When you wrote "engine service light indicator," did you mean the Check Engine Light in the instrument panel (CEL) or the service message in the MID? And what intake flaps-- cabin air or??
Regardless:
1) Has the power steering hose recall been done? If not, that may be the source of the reddish fluid-- get the dealer to do the recall ASAP.
If the recall was done, was the original O-ring replaced with an orange one? If not (some service departments are apparently not changing them out even though a new O-ring comes with the hose kit), have the O-ring changed out by the dealer.
2) The other possibility is that the engine air filter is over-oiled or in backwards (the K&N uses reddish oil; I think the stock engine air filter is oiled, but only on the air side) if you are getting oil in the intake manifold.

you only oil 1 side of a K&N filter too-
but over-oiling them at their 50k mile service time is a common problem
Do you have one of those filters?
What happens then is the excess oil gets sucked thru and onto the TB inlet plate that moves with throttle movement to allow air in
That also gets hit with the fumes from inside the engine thru PCV system
the metal tube from valve cover to rubber inlet tube to TB from air filter- thats the PCV and if there is something going on in the oil- its going thru there
Whats the dipstick look like?

everyone should be cleaning that TB plate with carb cleaner or Deep Creep about every oil change
