I painted my stock calipers on my Civic with "Ford Engine Red" engine paint from Pep Boyz. I recommend removing the caliper and painting them off the car. That way you can remove the pads and mask the boots, bolts, pistons, Bleeders and brake hoses. You will have to bleed your brakes after you re-install your calipers though.
I've also done one pair while still inside the wheel well by hanging the caliper from a coat hanger and masking EVERYTHING around (to avoid overspray). This worked really well, and I didn't have to remove the brake hoses, which requires you bleed the brakes when all is said & done. Simply bolt everything back together after a couple hours drying time & go.
I do recommend using primer too, as it will help avoid chips in the paint later on. Also wash the calipers REALLY well before hand, and hit them with brake cleaner to prep the surface for painting. It would be best to sand or wire-brush between the wash & brake-cleaner too, but not all that necessary.
Also, be sure to keep brake fluid off the paint when bleeding the brakes from then on. It will cause the paint to bubble and come off if not washed off right away.

I would never paint non-brembos red. It makes the brakes look even worse. Like many members have said before me, one of the biggest downfalls of the automatic TL's are the brakes.
If you HAVE to paint them, paint them black. It will look much better on our LUXURY cars... new acuras arent 94 civics![Tomato](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/tomato.gif)
And remember, if you paint them red, you will look so ricey if you were to pull up next to one of these and see their brakes.![Roll Eyes](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)

Just paint them whatever the hell you feel like painting them. Don't mod your car according to what people say is "cool" or not. I had my calipers red(it looked good IMO) and I recently painted them black because I wanted to. It goes more with the theme of my car now.
It's always good to ask advice and everyone is entitled to their opinion, but don't let it be your deciding factor. It's your car man, DO WHAT YOU WANT WITH IT!
