HMMMM I live in San Diego but most of the cars I have ever bought was either tinted back at home or already tinted. I would look around I am sure that there are alot of shops out there. The other guys from SD on hear may know of some places. Where at in SD are you located because I dont want you driving across the county just to get your windows tinted. BTW I recommend 20% all the way around. If you need pics of what 20% looks like Ill get some up later.

I live in mira mesa.. but I go to school at sdsu.. so basically anywhere in between. I would do 20% all around but I can't because the cops around campus are anal about window tints. My friend got pulled over twice..

What kind of car was he driving around. I had 20% all around on my IS300 and 20% all around on my TL now. I use to live in Mira Mesa and I really never got bothered.

An rsx. However, it was around SDSU campus. I also saw another car get pulled over on Thursday around the campus area.. the tint looked like it was 20% all around so I'm iffy about getting too dark of a tint in the front windows. It sucks but I rather be safe than sorry

Just remember though in an RSX with 20% is always going to look darker because its a 2 door. 35% would be your best beat though if you don't want to get pulled over. That or you can do 20% on the windows and 35% on the rear or the reverse.

I have a black interior.. so I figured that it would seem darker as well.

go check out tech formula located on miramar rd. they did my audi s4 years ago. ask for bob, anita, or mario. they are pricey but did a great job on my car. iirc it was 240 for the tint. same tint job can be had in LA for 150.

I got mine done at Al and Eds in grossmont/la mesa. No problems with the tint and the guy that comes out uses the mole skin so your tint doesn't get scratched.

Make sure you San Diegans check out the San Diego Meets thread!

https://acurazine.com/forums/socal-310/san-diego-meets-events-part-dos-396397/

As far as window tinting was concerned, I was thinking 35% all around too ... but now that I think of it .. timing belt service is much more important

I have gotten about 8 cars (my cars and friend's cars) over the past 5 years tinted at Soundcheck in Kearny Mesa off of Convoy street. Their number is 858-560-5455 ask for Baron, he is the owner, he'll hook you up. Make sure you get the moleskin!!!!!!

go to george at LJ window tinting in La Jolla. his prices are good and he knows what he is doing. he was the only person that told me that the tl needs a moleskin cover on the window to protect the tint. if anything is wrong he'll replace it.

Hey, check out Expert Window Tinting Plus (SDtint.com). I had my TL done there and they know how to do it right. Give 'em a call.

It's off University, right by State.

Stay away from all the ghetto hacks (Nasty City, Chula Juana, Mira Mesa.)

Another San Diego TL owner here. I called two places for quotes and one (can't remember the name at the moment) in Kearny Mesa quoted $350 for the rear five (I'm guessing this includes moleskin). Mr. Tint in Escondido quoted $300 with moleskin and $180 without.

I went up to Best window tint in tustin/irvine and got 3M CS. I found a lot of the SD places were way overcharging for moleskin and the place in irvine was fair. 290 installed w/ moleskin, front and back.

I'm think of hittin up the SD weekly mini meet so hopefully I'll see some of you guys soon

I agree I had mine done there and they are very good with high quality film. not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. I forget the owners name now, but he is very professional and he follows through on his promises

You went long after a few of us San Diegans went up there then. When we first discovered Best they charged me $160 for tint/moleskins. That was such an amazing deal, as everywhere in SD charges $250+

tru, when I saw the suggestion on the boards it was cheaper than what I paid, but I also upgraded to 3M. The solarguard would have been like 200ish. But still, higher than what a lot of you guys paid a bit back.

They were super nice and did a very clean job and was a tad cheaper than what I found here. I have a lot of friends up there so I just made a day trip.

Got mine done in Tustin by Jae at Best Window Tinting back in August. Work was top notch.

It was 230 for Solargard. 290 for 3M.

I believe the darkest they will go on the fronts is "medium" - 40% on the Solargard, 35% on the 3M.

I went with the 3M.

I ended up going to Digisports in East San Diego. They're well known amongst high school badminton teams in the area. They're also family operated and treat all cars with TLC whether it's new or old! In my opinion, they did a great job and worked very carefully..I know this because it took them about 5 hours to finish! They also got under the rubber thing on the small rear triangle window and they went under the rear window's break light. Solarguard tints w/ moleskin = 300 .. they also added a 4 inch strip on top of the front window for free
