Recommend jack stands?

I don't want to mess around when going under the car. Can you recommend (sears, pepboys, duralast)?

Sears is always good. Get a 3 ton jack if you want to have peace of mind but 3 tons isn't necessary.

I would go with at least a 2.5 ton, 3 is better. Any brand should work. Might try HarborFreight tools.

Somebody mentioned in another thread that Pepboys has a 3 ton jack, two 3 ton jack stands and a sliding roller for 79.99 - 15 rebate.

I bought it, jack says height is from 5.x" to 15.x". Is 15.75" inches enough to jack the back up? I'm not sure it is. It's one of the smaller type jacks not the big ones they use at tire shops. Don't want to open it up and return it and mess the store up (I think they eat the loss on returns) but I will in a few days if nobody knows if 15.75 inches is enough on the backend

You will run into some problems. Thats why I am going to invest in one of those nice low profile jacks that can still jack pretty high.

Yeah I think you're the one who mentioned the deal. I know exactly which jack you're talking about cuz the 2 ton I got from them a while back is the same size. It works good for my 04' Sentra but dont think it would cut it for my Accord. I need to grab one of those huge ones as well but they're so freakin expensive!

any brand should be fine... they are usually rated way beyond what you would need to hold up half the car...

Exactly. I have a 3000 pound aluminum jack from Harbor Freight and I'm never going to lift more than a quarter of the total weight of the car. I lift it up, throw the jack stands (3 ton rated) under there and move the jack out of the way. A lot of people get in trouble when keeping the car up with the jack. They were not made for that.

Any brand will do as mentioned...I bought my set at wal mart the gm performance ones and they have worked so far. They were cheap as hell too.
