Hello, there. I appreciate for all your helps and my insurance company decided to repair my car under UM coverage in my policy.
but inspector inspected my car and she issued a check for only 1700 dollars include my bumper and whole exhaust system. which is way less than estimate from my bodyshop.
So, I am trying to fix it in bodyshop without cashing the check she gave it to me.
In this process, can i just put aftermarket exhaust rather than stock one?
I am thinking of Megan cat-back or greddy Evo 2..
(stock= 830 dollars, megan or greddy 710-800..)
Should I negotiate with bodyshop for that??
BTW, this is my first time accident...
Any suggestion and opinion will be appreciated..
Thank you!

you let the body shop deal with the difference for a supplemental to the original estimate. the adjustor goes to the body shop to inspect or negotiate with the shop to get everything fixed back to OEM. the insurnace will cut a payment directly with the shop for the difference that they already gave you. when you go to pick up the car, you sign over the check that the insurnace gave you.
OR
you can tell the body shop to do whatever- fix the bumper, install A/M exhaust with the check that you have and call it a day. basically the insurance is then out of the picture b/c they have already cut you a check so you can fix your car the way you want it. usually the amount they write it up for is ALWAYS lower than what it is. a lot of times they can't see the damage that may be hidden once the car is broken down at the shop. hence the shop has to get supplemental estimate to cover the additional damage that was not found at initial inspection.
