rear defroster

Today was the first time I used my rear defroster. It took 10 min to completely defrost the window. I find this unacceptable. Anyone else have this problem?

Nope. And ten minutes isn't THAT slow.

In about 5 mins, the center of my rear window will be clear enough to see through...

After my windows were tinted, I haven't had chance to try it yet...

If you weren't exaggerating about the 10 minutes, that does seem slow. Mine clears up in about 5 minutes. But it also depends on what we are talking about...is it snow or ice (I doubt it)? Or is the glass just fogged up?

I do notice that American vehicles have better defrosters than Japanese makes...at least from my experience.

It was cold out this morning so the window was just fogged up. 10 mins seems like a long time for this. Other cars I have been in seem to work in 2-4 min. I have recently had my back window tinted. could this be the problem?

Usually tint does not affect the time it takes (at least not noticeably). It hasn't on my TL or on my old Altima.

You are right. It is VERY slow to defrost rear window. That's a big thumbs down to me. The other thumbs down is the fact that the heated mirror button and the L/R mirror adjustment slider switches are not backlit at night. Boooooooo.

ya i felt the same thing the other day when i used the defroster...it took quite some time...i went from my house to my job (which is about 2 minutes away) and i had my car started for like 2 minutes and by the time i got to my job, i didn't see any of the "lines" that you would see (the lines that let u see the fog disappear)...i realy didn't like that but i thought it was normal on all cars....
