Rear Bumper
Hey all....
I was looking at the car very carefully and when I got to the rear bumper, the color doesn't match with rest of the car's color. I've read some one else talking about the same issue. Its really easy to tell that rear bumper's color is abit off from the rest of the car's color.
What should I do?

Heard from a couple of early built car onwers talking about the same thing. Do you have lower VIN?
When color is not matched, I guess the light color vehicle will have more distinction. If it really bothers you, your dealer should do the replacement for you, not re-paint for you.

It was me....
I went down to the dealer and looked a couple of other cars and they were all the same.
I then started looking at other models and they were the same way.
I even looked at different manufactures Like Lexus and they didn't match.
My understandind is that the process and primer used to paint plastic parts is different. It is next to impossible to get them to match. It is more noticable on certain colors than others usually light colors.

I mentioned it in the "early problems thread" My Satin Silver's bumper/fascia is at least 2 tones of (darker.) I just got the car back from the dealer to have some of the little "shipped" stuff taken care of. That was on the list. The service guy told me that they did not repaint it because "it falls within Acura's allowable variation specs." He said that in order to go any further (i.e. get it repainted) they would have to get authorization from the regional guy, and he won;t be available for 2 weeks due to the North American International Auto Show (Detroit) starting this Saturday. He's tied up with that.
I don;t like the answer to the paint issue, and I will seek out the regional guy. But I do know that when the auto show is in town. ALL the regional guys are tied up representin'. That part is no BS.
So I'll just have to address it later with him.

an Acura has-been
Mainly it is a problem with the properties of the new paints, as they are so metalic, and are pearlescent to a degree, they are effected by what angle the light hits them.
Since the bumpers are flexable, they are not at the same exact angle as the rest of the car, so the reflected color appears different (actually, my friend in the autobody buis, said none of my panels apeared to match due to all the angles, but in fact they all did).
Dont sweat it, and what ever you do, don't repaint the bumpers, it will just be trouble later.
Even audi and bmw have the same issue and is more apparent on the lighter colors due to the higher reflection.

Well my color is as described, regardless of light. The difference can be seen in the morning, in the afternoon, sunny, hazy, even under the flourescent light of the service departments drop off area. And at any angle.

I had this problem with my White Solara, but my TL seems to match well. When I asked my local body shop about it, they said that chemicals in the Polyurethane plastic cause the discoloration in the paint over time. My Solara got worse after 2-3 years. A re-paint solved the problem, at least for as long as I had it.
