Ready to pull the trigger, but first...

Hey everybody,
This is my first post here. I am going look at a 2007 TL Type S with the tech package this weekend. It is silver and with the black and "taupe" interior and has 99k miles which is nothing to me bc I've owned four other hondas already and they've all approached 200k, but I digress haha. The is $12,995. the car has one little blemish on the front bumper and a little wear on the center console, but other than that, its perfect. I have seen the maintenance records and everything has been done on time and at the Acura dealership. I've tried negotiating down and they're not budging bc its already below bluebook. I'm gonna try again when it comes time to start signing stuff, if I end up liking it. My question is, what do you think about that price? Is it a good one, or should I try to get it down more? And how much lower do you think I can go? Thanks in advance.

Couple of things for you before we get to price:

0n the 07-08 TL Type S, there is no such thing as a "tech package." The Type S came fully loaded and the only options were auto trans vs. 6 speed manual trans and high performance tires.
At 99K miles probably within a year you will due for a timing belt change. It is due at 105K, but other members have gone a good bit beyond this. It's the first major service on the TL and is a roughly $800-$1000 job. If this hasn't yet been done, this is a negotiating point for you. Here is a thread on a DIY if you are so inclined. If you aren't it will still give you an idea of the work involved. A-122: DIY - 105k Service: Timing Belt, Water Pump, Spark Plugs, Thermostat *PICS* - AcuraZine Community

Also can you post a link or pictures of the car you are considering for other members to critque??

Welcome!! First off I see you mentioned "tech package". Most newer people do not realize that the Type S is fully loaded from the factory and besides auto or manual tranny and colors, the Type S only comes one way.
As for the price, if it's as clean as you say with a good accident free history I would say the price is about right from a dealership.
Goodluck!

Edit: I see NBP04TL beat me to it :-)

The price seems ok. I'd definitely ask if the 105,000 mile check-up has been done. One bargaining point could be the money needed for the 105,000 check-up, which will cost about $1,800 at the dealership.

MAJOR bump!! In this very situation except the car has 150k miles. Don't want to hijack the thread but how's the reliability looking for the tranny and such? And is the spark plug #5 issue still a problem on it? Good luck to you on the vehicle! Also, it'd extremely odd but.. The car I'm looking at Also has a tiny blemish on the lower front bumper...

Make sure you take a good look at the driver seat! The taupe definitely takes a beating with that kind of mileage depending on the owner. It sounds obvious but sometime's you overlook it because you're sitting in the drivers seat when you're checking out the interior.

I purchased an 07 Type-S MRP/Taupe auto.Mileage was 115,200 purchased from a Honda dealer 12/13/14.Car was real clean in and out and drove flawlessly.Dealer changed the oil, installed 4 new tires/alignment.105k service was NOT done.Dealer was asking $13,200..Drove the car out the dealership at $11,700.Did not finance cash sale.Doing the 105k this month.Drove several lower mile type S which weren't as good of shape as this one.Dont let miles scare you, just check it out thoroughly.
