If you look at "A" that's how our beam is originally, If you align it like "B" it's not bad, but it's not good either, your flicker will be in the eyes of oncoming traffic most of the time, little bumps will cause your beam to bounce up a lot. If you look at "C" you will notice how the beam carries up the further it projects down the road.

Yes, definitely understand...but curve "A" is for stock..if you take that whole curve and drop it two inches...how many feet in distance to you lose in light coverage?

That's why I figured you would no longer take off the 2.1 inch difference to account for it and get the beam to go about the same distance as stock WITHOUT aiming UP into oncoming traffic! Your thoughts? Does that make sense?

I'm sure as long as it's below horizontal you'll be fine. I've been in the retrofitting scene for a few years now, they always say to follow the 2.1-2.5" below horizontal, or I've also been told to just have the beam touch the ground atleast 100 feet down the road. The major thing you need to do is make sure that beam hits the ground eventually.

That's how I actually came to fall in love with these cars were the headlights, funny enough. Hope the tips help you out bud. Anything else just feel free to ask. I'm no JnC that's for sure (but I know what I'm talking about), he's been in the retro scene a lot longer than I. Goodluck.

Thank you! I'll give it a whirl tonight. I guess I'll try and raise a bit to get the distance and just be careful for people high beaming me cause I'm blinding them!

Yeah...the lights look VERY agressive...especially for a four door car.

J. Thanks again!

I realized over the last week or so that my left headlight was higher than my right. Last night as I was driving home from work, I got the highbeams from someone in the oncoming lane so I figured I would lower it today.

Thanks for posting that diagram. That really helped! First Phillips screwdriver I tried worked, and it took me less than 5 minutes.

hello guys,

My left side head light is aiming to the floor. I can see it hit the floor maybe 20-35 feet in front of my car. I tried aiming it and it would move up a little but then go back down. I could not get it to go any more up. What you guys think. I am pretty sure I am getting to turn the gear, its just moving a little up, then comes down although I keep turning the screwdriver in the same direction.

Any ideas?

Thanks for any help

where do you guys find a "flat" surface that's 25' + length of car and a "flat wall at the end of it?

i know how to aim a headlight, it's where i can do it accurately that's the problem

Good Info

This is all good data. I plan to raise mine a bit as it seems a bit low on the driver side. I understand the oncoming traffic issue, but the gap between driver and passenger side seems way to big. bty, the dealer just installed a new lens (removing the bumper was not in my timeframe) so I assumed they didn't adjust it correctly. that was, of course, before i read this thread.

pop your hood, look at the engine covers, both left and right have an arrow and a little hole...stick a fairly thick philips in there and turn left and right accordingly...SUPER easy.

I was confused too. It shows you the direction on the plastic battery cover and cover on the passenger side that goes over the washer fluid fill cap.

Here is a pic I took, hope this helps. Put the screwdriver in the same angle as the arrow, push firm and turn slowly. Shine a light down the hole to see the gears that youre trying to turn with the phillips head.

You need to re align your steps. It's supposed to be a uniformed line, it's not a step ladder. Both tops and bottoms should match up.

This is how they're supposed to be aligned.

But if I move up my drivers side, looks dimmer than the right, why?

Because you have both lights over lapping on the right side, the drivers side headlight is just itself.

Nate,

Thanks for the pictures! Now I finally see and understand what the Acura diagram was depicting. I've only noticed the one step on the drivers side and thought it was the difference between the driver and passenger light. I now I see, and understand, that's the shape of the beam. There's another one on the passenger side but it's lighter due to the driver beam over lapping it. I'll have to look for it tonight.

I'm thinking about adjusting my headlights as well. I don't have a wall to check against right now, but when I'm driving, it seems like only 20 or 30 feet of the road is lit up in front of me. I can't see road signs telling me where the freeway entrances are because the lights don't go high enough. Is this normal? It seems kinda dangerous.

what year is ur TL? does it still have the original bulbs it came with, if so, u prob need to replace the bulbs cuz they lose the intensity over the time.

It's a 2005. Just got it recently. I'm assuming the bulbs have never been replaced, but it seems moreso that it's just aimed so low.

The alignment looks mush better, but I see what you mean by the intensity being dull on the drivers side. What kind of bulbs are you using right now? Check and make sure that bulb is seated properly.

try replacing the bulbs, i have an 05 also and noticed the beams low too, but replaced them n did the lens swap and what a difference. beam was higher without adjusting them, im guessing it was because it was brighter.

im running 6k morimoto bulbs installed bout 1.5 months ago. but i do have 2 cereal box spacers on the drivers side lens and only 1 on the right side. could it be that?

I wouldn't think the lens spacing would be the issue here. I'd maybe swap the bulbs around and make sure the bulbs are nice and snug with in the bulb holder. It shouldn't look like that in your pics.

I can’t find where to put the screw driver on my 07 tl type s to adjust the gear that aims the lights. Doesn’t help that I don’t have covers anymore. Anyone have a clue?
