Are the rattles that bad?

The 3G TL seems just about perfect based on the reviews and research, but the one constant complaint is rattling from the cabin. How bad is it? Am I going to test drive one of these things only to have the rattles drive me nuts a week after I buy it?

its the only luxury brand that comes standard with rattles. its a great deal! You dont even need to negotiate to get them added to the car!

they can get really annoying, but not all tl's will have them. just hope you get lucky. i wasn't so lucky, but it would take a hell of a lot more than that to make me stop loving my tl.

Don't really have a rattle problem, but then again my stereo is always on so I probably won't hear them anyway if they are there...

This is the one thing that I have heard about the 3G TLs. Although I haven;t experienced much of it.

I bought a pre-owned 2005 TL a few months back, and I only have one rattle which is the sunroof visor. Other than that I don't have any. I guess I got lucky, or the previous owner got them all fixed?

Knock on wood ... haven't really found any in my TL so far .... but like many OP here, I always have my music on so that takes my focus away a bit

All I can say is, keep your music on. It drove me nuts when I had the radio off.

My '06 has maybe one or two but nothing to the point where it drives me crazy, and I'm a rattle freak. However, it's nothing compared to my old G35...that thing rattled like a box of rocks.

usually there's a few rattles you'll notice..i forgot about mine after a month or so (besides the rear deck rattle when the subs are pumping). luckily there's fixes but its a lot of work for fixing a minor issue..

I get rattles from a lot of places..for the first couple months I didnt hear too much but than it started coming from the rear deck where the speakers are and now from the lower compartment in the front...but than again you can only hear these things if you drive with no music and window up, just let the radio or something play in the background and you wont hear anything.

07 TL Type S. Very solid interior its super quiet the only slight rattle I get is what some people mentioned above and that when the sunroof is in tilt mode it will make a noise here and there over some bumps. The fix is to just tap it back down just a tad and it does not do it.

06 Nav here and I have the occasional rattle on the IP's top edge and driver door sill. its not enough to dislike the car. plus when i listen to the CD and have the a/c on, i can barely hear it anyway so no biggie.

furthermore, i think that unless the rattle is -THAT- bad that it is blatantly obvious and that other people notice it, i wont even care to fix it. because as more and more people have proven, the more you fix the rattles, the more come right back up.

My 08 TL-S only has 9k miles on it, rattles everywhere. Passenger A and B pilar, steering column, and something rattles in the rear to all the time, not sure what it is.

It's very annoying. You can't hear them with the radio playing, but when it's off and you have other people riding in the car, it's embarassing how much the car rattles. It sounds like a 15 year old shitbox.

Mine has the rear deck lid rattle and occasionally the sunroof when its cold out but not that big of an issue. I had a GTP before this so the TL is very quiet compared to any GM product they rattle like crazy once they are a couple of years old. gf's new GTI came with rattles 2 so I dont feel bad lol...

Depends on how easily annoyed u r and how loud u like to have your radio haha

as for me i have the upper window 2 rubber balloon squeak, loud sunroof, center console is a mess! trim pieces sound like they are cracking, area around shifter is squeaky.

dealer has had the car 3 times for days at a time to fix... have replaced both front window regulators, channels, all seals etc... still does it! in fact its going back in today for yet another attempted fix.

o well i get my choice of 3 loaners... TL, TSX, RDX. I opted for the 09 TL sh-awd w/navi! nice loaner eh?? i didnt even buy my 06 tl from them when i bought it in dec 08. plus im at 50,600 miles and they still fixin for free and givin me loaner. AWESOME dealer

very minor for me

I have an 06TL Nav.. i originally had the sunroof visor (outside mount factory accessory) and re tightened the thing multiple times and couldnt get rid of the LOUD rattle, finally took the thing off and the sunroof is silent as hell. The subwoofer rattle was pretty annoying, the dealer fixed it and there has been no recurrence. There is a very slight rattle/squeek sound from the drivers door where the metal and plood meet.... it is only audible with the music off on a bumpy road, and not consistent. I previously had a Mazda RX-8... talk about rattles and squeeks...had ot drive with the radio blasting...
Overall I dont think that any of it is anything to rule out a purchase.

I have an 06 Nav new since Oct 2005. No rattles at all but once or twice a year the door seals act like they are rattling. All it takes is some silicon spray wiped on the seals and all is quiet.

My 07 has never had a rattle..........
but then again; I don't shake everything loose with loud music
don't modify the suspension in any way
don't drive down dirt roads
don't roll on rubberband tires
don't take the interior apart to do mods
however, I do slow down going over speed bumps.
Guess I'm pretty lucky...or just plain dull lol

I have an '06 with 51,000 miles on it now; bought it with 17 miles on it...I've done A LOT of driving in a short time with this car. I've had maybe 2-3 rattles which required going back to the dealer and they fixed them.

1- Take it to acura to have them sound proof it under warranty and get a aftermarket sub... take out the stock one and that rattle was gone....

2- open the door glove boxes one notch and that rattle was gone

3- my drivers door rattles and only notice when the windows are up and the music is down... but if i have the windows down with my arm resting on the window its gone
(gonna complain to Acura about that one)

All in all i never notice any rattles on my daily drive...

'08 TL-S with 20 000 KMs (about 12 000 mi) and I have a few rattles from the rear deck, a few places in the dash and sunroof. They diffciult to source since they are intermittent. But they annoy the crap out of me.

I don't care what anyone says, a $50 K (Canadian $) car should have NO, zero, nada rattles. I hate it when people make excuses for this because there is no excuse for a car that aspires to be a luxury marque to rattle. Every time I hear one it just screams low quality....which pi$$es me off because I know the car is not low quality. Other makes may have isolated incidents of rattles but none to the degree of the TL. My wife's 5 year old RAV4 has no rattles, my '98 Eagle Talon (heavily modded) had no rattles....my TL-S shouldn't either.

It's one of the few things that sours my enjoyment of this car.

I don't want to speak too soon, but i haven't gotten rattles on my car at all... its an 05 with 48k on it.

Just remember there are alot more TL owners out there then on this forum and the people on this forum are probably very picky on many things(not a bad thing) they just want the best.

If i have any rattles, its drowned out by music anyway....
