Is this a rattle?

Whenever you guys talk about rattles I always thought of some panel shaking or something. However I discovered what I think is a rattle today. When I turn, stop hard (or soft sometiems), or accelerate, it sounds like a marble or a screw is literally rolling around in the back. It sounded like it was coming from the back door on the passenger side, so I checked the compartment thinking something was rolling around in there, but there was nothing in it. However, when I took my door and shook it back and forth I heard it and thus discovered it was coming from the back, passenger side door.

So, is this a rattle, or is something rolling around an entirely different issue?

Thanks

Btw, I am going to the dealer tomorrow to get the check engine light problem serviced. He said after experimenting the figured out it has something to do with a valve not closing fast enough, and that its not going to hurt the engine but it can give you poor MPG (I am getting 10 right now). When I go tomorrow I am going to have him take a look at the rattle.

I just heard the same rattle about an hour ago. I was traveling over lots of bumps. It sounded like something was loose near the rear wheels.

Make sure there is no funny objsects rolling around in your trunk or any storage spaces before you agonize over this issue.

Yeah. I checked the storage space once and didn't see anything, but didn't realize it when so deep in despite the smaller opening than length. I checked again and of course I found a screw rolling around. When my car goes in tomorrow morning I am going to mention something to the dealer. I'm lucky the screw wasn't in the door panel, but I'm hoping it didn't come out of something important.

Anyway, how would you describe the typical rattle people get? I haven't had one yet so I really don't know.

GaleForce, I'm interested in this issue. Please update the answers/solutions if possible.

Thanks.

Got the car back today after dropping it off in the morning (just left it there for a day). They fixed a leather ding that was in the door panel while the car was in, but not the light. He ordered a replacement part for the engine, as they know what is causing the problem (some valve not closing fast enough). Its backordered though so I have to wait a few weeks. Don't mind since it won't hurt the engine but this 10MPG is sucking, so if it continues, I am going to call back.
