radar powering/mounting options

Has anyone tried one of theses radar powering/mounting options? I'm thinking about giving it a try.

for those w/ powered rearview mirrors, no need to run a cord from the fuse box or cig lighter

http://www.stealthcords.com/shop/home.php?cat=280

and mounting directly off the rearview

I used an invisicord and plugged it into a harness in the sunroof panel. Do a search and you'll find the pics with the exact wire to plug into, I believe it was a green wire in the back of one of the two plugs. You just have to take the panel off where the dome lights and sunroof switch is. that's the hardest part. Plus it's powered on with the key.

See this link https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-audio-bluetooth-electronics-navigation-94/v1-install-552627/

Mods, we really need the search to be up again, or we will have a sea of repeat threads......

Here is the link for the mount

It would be nice if we could get the search function working again.

True about the search, I tried to find the thread about the way I did my v1 mount and couldn't find it.

That's a pretty nice mount. Anyone have one of these? Which size fits a 07 TL?

You dont need to buy one of those schhazyy inviscords. A regular telephone cord will work in wiring. I had an escort 8500 that I used when I did that and I think it was the red and green wires that you used. Let us know which RD you wanna hook up. save yourself like $20 from buying that invisicord wire.

searching the net, I found this mount. I think this is the way I'm going to do the mount for my Escort 9500. http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=58501

The web site at www.countryjoycrafts.com indicates that their mount for the V-1 will not fit the 2004-2008 TL

My radar detector is hardwired through the sunroof power source. Turns on and off along with the car.

Trust me- that countryjoy mount doesn't work for the TL. I bought one last year and found it did not fit because the mount was too thick. It did fit on our Pilot and I don't use it because it vibrates a lot. I have one for sale if someone really wants one.

What I did in both my cars works very well with no problems: glued a metal mount directly to the windshield in upper tint strip. This works well because the detector is very accessible to the driver and it's very well hidden- especially in the TL where the car is so low. I used the invisicord but a phone cord will work very well too. The detector also doesn't vibrate like the countryjoy mount since the forward edge is mashed against the windshield.

^ Thank you for your honest review. I love reading those!

Another reason you may want to skip on the inviscord, and use a telephone wire, if you want to have a conceal display. I bought cheap 99c black telephone cord, and ran the install to the fuse box... beautiful. And my V1 never vibrates, it is sucktioned to the glass beautifully, though a few times during very hot days, the sucktion cups gave in.
