Race tracks in the Socal area

Sooo does anybody know of any race tracks in the socal area? or areas around socal. I did a search but didnt find what I was looking for. Something like the Watkins Glenn vid on the form. Not a drag strip, but road course. Thanks for any info.

I heard there is one by the Palm Springs. and I think there's one in the Long Beach as well. I would love to find one and attend a couple of driving lessons!

I'm in the last stretch of my final. All my friends are really into cars, so I'll call them up and see if they can find anything. I'll post about it later; maybe, some socal AZ members should have a meet at the race track.

HAHA i can see it now..... 83) Shawn - Acura TL LOL!!

I dont understnad what you mean by "The gears are too darned tall for streets of willow"

I dont really know all the terminology when it comes to racing. This would be my first time at a track. Is that the only track that you go to? Is there anything you like better?

Just thought you might be interested in the driving school info:
http://www.redlinetrackevents.com/school.html
Here's your chance. We are now offering a high performance driving class for a small number of people who are looking to improve there driving abilities. You will learn where the line of the track is, and how to take it at 100%. You will learn about weight transfer, vehicle dynamics, heel toe downshifting, braking points, turn in, and when and where to shift gears. All this sounds very basic, but on the track, there is a very specific point at which everything happens and you will learn that all if you take advantage of the opportunity. As a student, you will receive first dibs on track time, and extra run sessions with the instructor if needed. There will be a classroom session before we run the track, and then we will have a lead follow session on the track. The lead follow session gives you a chance to see how the track is run and get a feel for it before we run it at speed. It's also your chance to see just how the fastest line around the track is laid out. Each student will have a chance to follow the instructor around the track as we progressively increase the speeds.

After each run session, we will have a meeting to discuss how things are going, and address what concerns you may have. This is also the time to discuss more advanced driving techniques. Things like heel-toe downshifting, and trail braking.

The biggest advantage to taking the class is each student will receive one on one in car instruction. You can ride in the instructors car, or have him ride in yours. This will be the most helpful part of the day. Having someone show you and instruct you through every corner will do wonders for your abilities to drive at the limit.

The instructor for our events is Jeremy Croiset. He is 25, married, and has a 3year old son. His only hobbies are cars and motorcycles. He has been running track days since he turned 17 and usually gets to the track every chance he gets. Jeremy knows all the tracks in So Cal very well, as he has done well over a hundred track days. Currently, Jeremy is preparing his Honda CRX for competition

The Cost for this class is $30.00 for the entire day. Space is limited to only 10 students for this next event.
As far as "other" tracks go, I actually prefer races where there's less risk involved (i.e. - no passing or other cars allowed) due to the fact I'm financing my TSX and the insurance won't cover a "track" accident. *knock on wood* Some of the other tracks simply have cones where you're going against the clock. Sorry, can't remember the name or website off the top of my head -- I'll ask my cousin who does a bit of auto-x in his ITR.

btw - what's the specs on your TL? 3rd gen 6MT I assume? Suspension?

If you don't have a coilover kit or aspec setup, don't worry. Everyone says its better to learn in stock form. This way, you learn the characteristics of the TL chassis. After summer tires, slicks, or a sway bar is installed, you don't have to worry about them masking your mistakes.

Thanks for the info i was actually looking at the driving school... but the site says i need to sign up for a track date to be able to do the driving school. So thats 175+30+10+ gas getting up there = more then i have right now lol .

I saw the passing rule is allowed... That means that faster cars behind you can pass you... i can see where that can get dangerous, but wouldnt you just move to the side to let them by?

Other tracks dont allow that?.... So that means that your just going against the clock? Ive seen some auto-x vids... but my reason for wanting to something like the redline track event was to race other people... Just sick of the street racing bullshit, Not worth it...

I have a stock 05 3Gen TL 5AT no aspec

If you want a lower cost / lower risk track, read up on SOLO:

http://www.scca-sopac.org/index.html

They have tracks setup pretty much anywhere varying from Qualcomm parking lot or an airport.

I think i will wait till i have the money to sign up for a track date, and driving school. The tracks look like alot of fun. I think ill just move over to the side if somebody thats faster then me wants to go by (no big deal). Plus your in a group with people that have close to the same racing experience as yourself.
