Unhappy R.i.p. 2008 TL-S

Evening all,

Its with great sadness and regret I am posting a RIP thread of my 2008 Acura TL Type S

I was on my way out of my house this morning at 6am heading to the gym before work, as I was heading down the road only a few blocks from my house, I was doing 40-45MPH (Speed limit) when I came up on an intersection, as I entered the intersection (Which I had the right away too) out of the corner of my left eye I saw a GRILL coming at me.

BOOM I got T-boned by a 1981 Silverado doing 60MPH, he ran the red light, I woke up on the other side of the intersection in a light pole... I immediately freaked out as I fear fire and tried my door, "Of course didn't open" so I jumped over to the passenger door and climbed out.

Once I was a safe distance away I turned back to look and realized I was in some serious pain, so I fell to the ground and waited for some help. It didn't take long before I was taken to a local hospital to be treated...

Turns out I suffered a minor concussion, lots of cuts & bruises along with a torn ligament. I was released 4 hours later...

As for the other driver, and passenger. One tried to flee the seen but there was an officer not to far behind them it turns out and he was caught with in minutes. The driver, and passenger had no insurance, license and the truck wasn't registered for 3years and was from Texas... They were loaded on meth and drunk...

That has been my day sadly... I have no idea what will happen at this point as I am waiting for my adjuster to contact me.

Here is my poor baby just 4days before the wreck all cleaned up, waxed up, and gassed up ready for the work week ahead...

The photo below was taken by my Dad when he got to the seen.

This is how I found my amps, all thrown around/un-mounted...

Id just like to say, thank you to Acura for saving my life and designing a solid car... to get hit at 60MPH by an all steel truck and walk away with as little as I did, I am amazed and very thankful... With that said, we all own a great ride! Well for me "Owned "

First off, sorry for your loss man! That car was stunning. You did a really good job, very tasteful mods. Secondly glad you are ok! Hopefully you can find another one around the same as this one. Are you planning on pressing charges?

So many accident threads being made recently.

The car did what it was supposed to do, which was to protect you and keep you alive. Terribly sorry for the loss. I hope you get well soon and jump back into another car that you'll love as much as you did for the TL-S.

Looks like one hell of an accident, all as a result of drug use. Glad you are alright for the most part. You had a great looking TL-S, looks like it did its job, keeping you safe!

It's a really strange phenomena when a 2 ton vehicle can tbone you at 60mph and the only thing separating you from that truck at impact is a car door and you can just walk away from it scratched.

Great job Acura.

Damn that's horrible and glad to see your relatively ok. This kind of shit pisses me off and how many fucking worthless idiots there are out there. How the hell do people even sleep at night knowing they drive a uninsured and unregistered car with no insurance?? I hope those assholes go to jail, but unfortunately they will probably be driving a car in a few weeks illegally while messed up on drugs. As far as I'm concerned they almost committed murder. Lock them up!

Classy.

Real sorry to hear about the loss of your car. This is a true testament of Acura's great chassis engineering. Glad you made it out without serious injuries.

damn man, glad you are ok op. I dont know what it is but man are people getting stupid behind the wheel lately. Here in Houston people love to not maintain their lanes. they always favor the left side of their lane while they have about 4-5 feet on the right. (pretty sure alot of people do that though) bunch of steering wheel holders. im just glad you came out of that wreck with minor injuries and alive. she did a good job protecting you, t-bone at 60 ish mph at that. make those bastards pay and press charges.

You sir are very lucky!!! I hope those guys don't get off easily, for what they have done. Hopefully you won't be out much money since they had no insurance. Good luck on your recovery and getting compensated for your car.

Damn OP very sorry about your car, but I'm glad you're ok. Hate seeing all these threads lately about these wrecked cars, but it just shows how well built they are. I'm glad you're ok and doing well. Hopefully this will all get sorted out. Meth has become a big problem lately.

Thank you everyone for the wishes and comments on the accident, I will definitely miss my ride.

A few of you asked if I will press charges, simple answer is "You know it" I will do everything I can to ensure something like this wont happen by these fools again.

Honestly, I would love to get another 08 but M/T... however with my family we have been actually looking at trucks again and so I believe I will just be getting a much nicer truck this time around, and get another "car" to mod/play with in a few years. Looking at a Dodge Cummings and or Silverado 2500HD

Haha I was interested in that too it says "Engine System: P015 An Indicator is ON, AcuraLink can help you solve this"

Im 100% sure my insurance will deem it " totaled" however I am unsure if Id be able to part it... I am going to fight to remove some parts for sure, as I didnt have some covered in my policy.

Indeed it as. Ahh its okay I would love to see these parts go to some other members rides that will apprichate them as much as I did, even more so then to the crusher! Plus I can use what ever extra I can salvage.

See above reply, if I can I will be yes, I looked over the car at the yard today and it appears the following could be saved:

x3 F14 Forge Star RIM + Tires 18x9

Left and Right 08 head lights (Full)

Wind visors

Custom shift boot for A/T

AEM V2 Intake

LED Type 2 switch backs

Custom Speaker box made for our 3rd gen Acura TL, (HITS HARD) and looks good!

Believe that would be it.

Thanks again everyone.

Depends if they are / are not 100% ok... That will be the big ? I will do fair prices.

I suppose if anyone is really interested PM me what your interested in and as I find out what is going to happen who ever messaged me first will get first reply etc...

FYI it could be weeks before I reply, but I should know about parting it fairly quick as I dont want it sitting at a tow yard on my dime... and insurance would move it quick because of that as well... Hopfully I hear from my adjuster tomorrow.
