quick question...

When purchasing a new TL, is it against the law to use your Girlfriend's address if the sales tax in her county is lower than the sales tax in mine?

I can save almost 500.00 on the purchase of the car using her address...

I dont want to do anything illegal however...

Thanks

go to the dmv, get your licence changed to her address (dont know if you need proof, florida is very lax on their requirements) at that point its not illeagal (at least not in florida).... especially if you live there half the time....

No, it's not illegal (here in Virginia) as long as you resister it in her name (which would make someone "Fool of the Year" if they did that with a girl friend.. or boy friend).

No. I could buy a car and register it in someone else's name if I wanted. The problem is they become the legal owner of the car and MAY have to pay a gift tax as well. Just wouldn't make any sense to me to do this. Of course, if it was my wife that I was doing this with, no problem unless she dies before me. Then I have to wait for things to go through probate before I could sell the car.
