Questions on head gasket replacement

I'm following the Acura service manual and it's having me remove the intermediate axle, rear warm up TWC. Is that really necessary? It seems that I can remove the bolts on the rear TWC and move it out of the way (towards the firewall). Then it look like the rear head will come right out.

Can someone tell me if that would work?

Thanks.

cat is attached to the head, so if you have the bottom of the cat undone and enough clearance you might be able to sneak it up and out as one unit (cat and head). I'm not 100% sure but I'd say it's probably better to get the cats off with the head on the car vs dealing with it on a bench where you can damage the heads more before sending the head to be machined.

I loosened/removed the nuts on the pre cats to J pipe as well as the ones on the head to get those out of the way. Make sure you get off the bracket or wires mounted on the bracket on the rear head that took me days to figure out. One cr those three are off the heads it comes out.
