Questionable advertising...
From ACURA advertising:
Uh-huh...
I won't mention the inconsitent panel gaps I've noticed on my new TL. No big deal, but hardly "...narrow and consistent..." as they purport.
"Nothing feels better than leather." Yeah, but when yer butt leaves permanent imprints on the seats, ya gotta wonder about the quality of that there "leather."
Great car, but they go overboard when they stress stuff like "industry-leading...during the assembly process."
Craftsmanship:
Designed to inspire. Engineered to endure.
The quality of every Acura is clear at first glance. Now get closer. Each small detail is an execution in precision engineering. The gaps where the body panels meet are narrow and consistent, an industry-leading detail that demands an extraordinary amount of craftsmanship during the assembly process. Every outside surface undergoes a rigorous anti-corrosion and paint process. It also speaks of a car body that is rigid and unyielding to strain. Ê Step inside. Shut the door. The solid closing sound is a boost of confidence. That's because the interior quality of every Acura appeals to your senses. The inner panels, made of two laser-welded sheets of metal, hush the outside world. Fill this luxurious silence with an Acura premium audio system. Enjoy the components, all finished in lavish materials. Nothing feels better than leather. Know that every titanium, chrome, and aluminum alloy accent, and fine wood-print finishings, imbueÊeach AcuraÊvehicle with uncommon elegance and grace.

I think you need to get over this...find me one add in any industry that doesn't embellish every detail of their product. Do you expect them to advertise the slight oversteer or vibration over 50??

I agree wholeheartly on the trunk. It appears Acura & most car makers just don't make them like what they used to. I guess they have to be competitive, so with this new intro & compared to the 03TL-S, they raised the MSRP by about $2K, added more features, but also cut corners to save manufacturing cost. I probably will list them in a future thread. This is evidenced by the 6 cars we currently have, (4 Acura, a honda & Nissan, 95 - 04), & the same brands/models we had in the past. The trend in recent years seems to be more performance & features (not always), better looking & aerodynamics, thinner (cheaper/lighter, & in this case, high tensil?) sheet metal, as each new model year comes out. I can see the reason why makers of Luxury cars, such as BMW, cut corners in manufacturing, at least in the lower cost models, to make them more affordable; but I don't think this is the case here.
Maybe it's a weight-redux issue.
?Helps with the overall weight distribution as well??
Maybe if you remove the trunk-lid lining component, and install a lightweight soundproofing material, (found at custom audio shops), reinstall said trunk--lid lining material: it will sound solid. Auto upholtery shops sell JUTE (I think thats how it is spelled), and that should work. It's the same material used under car carpeting. Looks like all sorts of different color leftover clothing material.
If anyone tries it and it works, please let me/us know about it.
