Question For White TL owners

how many of your TLs are starting to show yellowish because of the Pearl White?
how many of you TLs' bumper and the body of the car color don't match?
those 2 problems is the main 2 issue i heard from white TL owners

I have the bumper not matching the rest of the car problem...I am gonna mention it to the dealership when I take it in for my first oil change because I remember someone else on this forum having it repainted through warranty

Same issue here although I compared it to an SSM and the SSM showed the same qualities of the paint not matching.

The subject made it seem like this was a question for Caucasian TL owners.

By the way, when I was at my dealership last, even 06 WDP TL's had a problem with the paint matching. WDP isn't the only color with this problem (my Anthracite body kit doesn't quite match the car...but the bumpers are fine), but I think it is the most noticeable on the white TL's.

I haven't heard of paint mis-matches with black...but if your friend really wants a WDP TL, then ask that the dealer show him the car he will be purchasing. Let him look at it carefully before the purchase, and if it doesn't match...let him refuse.

Thumbs down

I have a '06 TL and the color of the bumper does not match the body color. In addition to that the color of the rear underbody spoil does not match either the body nor the bumper.

The actual color is protected by the clear coat ..any discoloration is usually in the clear and its mostly oxidization that can be polished out.

Lighter colors tend to show more paint issues eventually because they don't seem to get dirty like black etc.. Thing is they get just as dirty ... just don't show it so they get less washing etc. The less attention they get the more the issues come to the surface. Less washing means the clear coat oxidizes faster and looses some of its clairity and can appear as yellowing . The oxidized layer can also pick up other discoloration.

It's not so much that it yellows with the white TLs it's that they're painting plastic vs metal for those parts and somehow it just ends up not matching, you can really see the difference.

You could always a-spec the car....have your body shop put on the kit for you and match/blend the paint so it matches, many on here did the same and said that a good shop can actually do a much better job of matching than the factory did.

Yea I notice it on my WDP but only in certain light conditions. Honestly it doesn't stand out unless you really look for the difference. Btw, Vancouver does rock. I'm at the airport coming from a few days vacation there, awesome city!

I love my white. Just washed, clayed, and waxed my wdp and that thing virtually glows in the dark. No discolorations that I can notice.

Yeah, I have the off color bumpers too and it's about a shade off. I've had the car for almost 2 years now with it always parked outside. I don't really pay much attention to it anymore. It doesn't seem to have gotten any worse though from when I bought the car.

The rear bumper color on my 04 WDP was way off from the body panels and it was clearly visible. The dealer that sold me the car said it was normal they would not do anything about it... I went around to other dealers in the are and finally one did accept that the color was off. They had to get authorization from the Acura DPM to repaint the bumper under warranty... The colors match 95% now after the repaint...
