Question regarding Side Mirrors
Question regarding Side Mirrors
Tonight upon getting in my TL, I noticed that my side mirror, on the passenger side, was pushed in facing the window. My girlfriend asked me if I was able to see out, with the mirror like that? I thought that someone must have hit my mirror while it was in the parking lot at work, and broke it! She opened the window and snapped it back into place. She said that most cars do that now days. She said "here I'll show you how it works". I told her please just leave it alone, as I was already upset just to have seen it like that.
I didn't know, in the year of owning my car, that our side mirrors could do this? Or can they? I went home and looked in the manual, and couldn't find anything in there that said the mirrors did that. So can anyone tell me if they can actually turn in like a lot of new cars today do? Sorry if it sounds like a stupid question, but I was curious to know what the real answer is! Thanks for your help!

It's not a problem. The mirror housings can be manually folded against the window for shipping and transport purposes. You will see that when the TLs are on the transport trucks and before they are prepped by the dealer. The mirror housings can also be pushed back if someone or something accidentally pushes against the housings. The housings snap back out into position with appropriate manual pressure.
