Question regarding rattles.

I know this topic has been beaten to death, but really .. this is getting ridiculous.

I have a 2004 Acura TL 5AT, meticulously maintained, 73,000 easy miles (Mainly freeway miles from the previous owner)

My car rattles like no other. Here's something to wrap your head around:

My friend "Mike" has a 1994 Honda Accord EX 4cylinder Sedan, it has had one rough life in terms of roads it's driven on, regular maintenance, etc. His car currently has 205,000 miles, leaking radiator fluid .. it's truly a mess.

Here's the thing, I rode in his car today and I noticed his car doesn't rattle nearly as much as my car does ... and it truly blows my mind. Something that's 14 years old, driven on dirt roads it's whole life, has a better cabin quality than mine does.

Here's my idea: Do you think if I brought both cars to the Acura dealership and had a tech ride in both cars, do you think I could good some form of good will / rattle fixes from the dealership? My car is out of warranty @ 73,000 miles, I'm just curious to see if you could see it happen. I could maybe bring forward more evidence that I'm not the "only one" with these rattles.

The rattles are so vast in my car, I can't even pinpoint them! The only two I can truly pinpoint are the 2 pillars where the seatbelts are. Other than that, it's all under the dash it seems .. multiple rattles etc.

Suggestions / Comments? It's extremely frustrating slowly paying off something that annoys me on a daily basis.

My '03 Accord was whisper quiet when I traded it at 50K. My TL has a minor rattle in the driver's armrest area and I've recently noticed a new one that sounds like it's coming from the guage cluster/steering column. Not to mention a drooping f-ing headliner. I suppose it's almost time for a trip to the dealer; I just hate the thought of them tearing apart my interior. I HATE anyone working on my car. I doubt you'll have any luck with a "good-will" fix, but it never hurts to try.

Agreed.

It's embarrassing when you have people in your car ... you get a phone call and you have to turn down the music .. and all you hear is rattles.

I'll see if I can do that tomorrow ...

I heard that the center speaker is one of the reasons you hear rattles in the dash

yah i noticed that the center speaker was rattling..i pressed down on it and it stopped..any idea how to fix this rattle from the center speaker? how do you go about removing it? i mean honestly ..the center speaker only works when you play a DVD A...and I don't even use DVD A's...so the 5.1 Dolby is useless

My 07 TL-S is rattle free after 3 trips to the dealership. Center speaker, Console, and back shelf were the rattles that were fixed. These days I just drive with the music off and it's great.
