Question on payload capacity

I notice that the payload capacity on our tl is 850 lbs. Can someone explain exactly what that comprises of. Does it mean all passenger and things put in the vehicle that does not come with it? Does it not include the spare tire and jacking equipment?

The tl is suppossed to be a five passenger car in theory. So if you take 850 lbs and divide by five you get 170 lbs.
My concern is sometimes when I go to my military obligations, I am driving four others beside myself, and I do believe we would be surpassing the 850 lb mark even without the duffle bags in the trunk.

I didnt think about this till reading through the manual a second time.Because of this I will be using my sequoia for this, but just wondering in general, whats the dilly, with load capacity?

Thanks

i cant confirm the total payload but im pretty sure that includes both passengers and cargo. i think u will be able to exceed that by mayb 100 lbs or so, but just take extremely easy on those bumps cause ur ride is gonna be extremely low

In anticipation of those trips you can add a few more psi's to your tires, that'll help out.

Yeah 850lbs is low, or so it seems. The TL isn't really comfortable for 5, so I guess that is only "in theory" - but you can easily surpass it if you carry some heavier passengers and cargo.

850 pounds seems very low. I'm sure I was over that last month carrying my parents, my brother, and four sets of golf clubs. The car was riding REALLY LOW in the back. The ride and handling were still OK, and my brother had the car up to 85 mph on the drive home when I let him drive, but on the whole I think I will avoid that experience in the future.

A pay load of 850 lbs is normal for most of the cars on the road. Not until you get to cars like the Crown Victoria etc do they have a 1050 payload. Even most small SUV'S have a 850 lb payload.
