Someone correct me if im wrong.
But ive read that you may have to release some of the gas in the hood damper since the hood weighs less.
Like i said, correct me if im wrong.

I think the factory ones will work. When accuratien did his hood, he wanted to use the TEIN shocks, but i think they were too strong so he had to use to stockies. I would PM him, or PM michealbenz.

the hood is lighter... it will pop up to quick... try what sto4 is thinking off... but wait did you order ur hood already? if so wait till it comes in... prior to install try and purge the gas... I've never heard of that but it could be possible...
do not install the dampers as they are now because it could well snap ur hood in half

And if it did not take off there would be no way you could close it without doing damage to the hood.

This thread was about dampers wasnt it? I dont use em personally cause I dont want the extra weight....but as the link shows above....you can use aftermarket dampers but you will just need to release some of the pressure.

Tein does not make a damper for our car
You can try a DC2 or DC5 damper, should be similar to ours. Or, you can use only one OEM damper, and when closing the hood put pressure on the side with the damper...
the VIS hood does have a bolt locations to link up the damper, but i wouldn't recommend it, not unless your release the pressure in the damper... but i dont know anythign about that.. and if you dont release enough, the hood will fly back to "forcefully"
i currently have no dampers, no pins. i do have a set of Aerocatch latch's, but probably wont install them... waste of $90
and good luck with that VIS hood.... where the latch is located, there is supposed to be a groove in between it.. hard to explain, but go pop open your OEM hood,... and look in between the two latch points.... see that hollowed out area?? VIS doesnt have it.. and you'll need to dremmel in a similar sized opening, other wise the latch wont close properly....

thanks alot blackura and michaelbenz, this is veryyy helpful information, so hood pins are not neccessary, nor are the hood dampers? is that what the conclusion is?
and yeah i noticed the part where i will have to dremel when the hood comes in, and i am getting a local shop to do that, because me, i have no experience and do not trust my friends to mess around with that stuff, so i will pay the extra little bit of money to have it properly done you know?
thanks alot guys, i knew yall could help me out!

you'll probably also have to lower your latch.... remove the bumper, remove the plastic cover over the latch.... loosen the 3 12mm bolts (loosen, DONT remove) and the push the latch down a little bit.... if you go all the way down, the hood lines up PERFECTLY... but, your front bulkhead cover wont allow the hood to latch, and you will have to remove it....
without lowering the latch, my hood stuck up about 4-5mm from the fenders .... now it sits flush, but the hood wont latch properly with the front bulkhead on (thats the plastic cover over the radiator)
also, you'll need to adjust the bump stops accordingly.... either way, the hood still slightly, and i mean SLIGHTLY, jiggles while its latched... ill perfect it one of these days

when you open your hood, there are all those plastic covers... the front bulkhead is the front plastic cover, in between the headlights, closest to the bumper...
i just adjusted my latch yesterday, and got the hood 100%.. but it wouldnt close with that piece on.... i would have kept trying but i was tired, it was dark out and i hadda put my bumper back on....
i still might hood pin/latch mine... the fact that i had to dremmel a nice sized hole in the middle of the hood latchs anchoring points, makes me slightly nervous that the latch might seperate from the hood... so pins and dampers will probably be done up in the next few weeks
michealbenz came through with a GREAT thread about these password.jdm hood dampers... i might buy them

yeah i noticed that, i am just not wanting to put the pins into such a nice peice of equipment even though it could save my ass.
i saw the password JDM ones, but as of now, i am broke as hellll til next friday, then i will have to get some more stuff done to the car, but just taking it one step at a time, so i will need to remove that plastic peice that is sitting on top of the grille correct?

Heck....I adjusted my hood latch without even taking off the bumper whatsoever. As you said....you just have three bolts there you have to access....but I never removed the bumper to do so. My hood fits fine....had to shim the back side toward the window with one washer to make it flush and lower the front latch...but other than that it fit fine. No removing any panels or underhood plastic...mine all fits fine. I have a Versus Motorsports double sided CF hood though.
