Question for an Acura tech!
Regarding the oil filters on the new TL, when I changed my oil I was surprised to find out that my6 spd used the same filter as the RSX. Does the auto use the same or a different filter?
I am not a Tech, but you will find that many of Hondas engines use the same oil filter. For example my 98 Accord V6 uses the same filter as my 02 TL. As the TLs, whether or not they are a manual or Auto have the same engine, I would expect they have the same oil filter.

If you go behind the parts counter at any Honda or Acura dealer and look at their oil filter inventory, you'll see there's only a few different types for all years and models.
Thats the deal I've had many hondas and they all used the same filter. The TL doesn't, I think it shares a filter with the K 20 engine rather than the accord type. BTW, thanks, but were looking for someone that knows for sure!
I posted this reply in your other thread but I will stick it in here as an update to this thread. Hope it is correct this time. Sorry about the wrong info I gave on my last post, but I was going by the info my dealer gave me. I called a real Acura dealer parts department and I found out the new TL uses a Part No. 15400-PLM-A02, which sells for $6.00 at the dealer I called, and for $7.62 at my dealer. It is the same height, but is not as big around, and he said both the manual and automatic use the same filter. After I got this info I called my dealer's parts department to verify this, and she kept asking me if my 2004TL was a Type S, but I finally convinced her there wasn't such a thing and she gave me the correct info with a little prompting. I think I will continue to change my own oil since it is so easy to do on the Acura.

A Honda/Acura parts site I have access to says the appropriate part number is 15400-PLM-A01 ("Filtech Toyo Roki") or 15400-PLC-004 ("Toyo Roki"). The former filter is probably Canadian or US sourced and the latter is Japan. The 15400-PLM-A02 (referenced in a post above) is listed as a "Honeywell" filter, superceded by the -A01. (So it will fit and work).
Honda/Acura only has a few filters, but they like to change the part numbers and sources a lot.

I remember there are two filters in Acura, so this is the smaller one?
Thanks.
