When I called the people answering the phone at XM said it would just shut off automatically...they do not have any of our billing info (credit card #, etc.) or authorization to charge us for using the radio, so they cannot continue the service without us calling up for it.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone not kept the XM going?

My service will end in about a week...and I don't plan on keeping it going.

Before or after your trial ends/starts, does the XM radio still give you a few sample channels regardless if you subscribe or not? I ask this b/c I haven't activated my XM yet, and I know the dealer didn't b/c they told me I had to do it, but I noticed that I get one station for each type of genre that comes in.

My XM trail was activated at dealer when I purchased my TL, I was told by the XM service representative that I only need to call if I want to continue the service after 3 months trial period ends.

^^^ Is correct. I just spoke to XM Monday, as my 3 month's is almost over. You do not need to contact them if you do not want to keep the service. If you do, you can reply to them by mail (they will mail you 3 package offers), or you can call them at 1-800-845-3072

I got the mailer and called them and added it to anotehr account I had.. which was only 6 dollars.

You need to wait til the trial is over... it was 4 months for me, not 3.

So my trial period is over. The radio is updated on a regular basis. You do get about 5 stations that seem to change on some basis if you do not renew. I am not sure how long they stay, but I had it change once when I parked for an hour or so. It is kind of fun to see what you can hear!!

Formula - but it sounds like you enjoy listening to XM. Are you even considering subscribing?

I love XM - I don't listen to anything else - plus I'm having a tough time getting DVD-Audio - there isn't too many choices out there!!

might be different if you have another account, but i renewed before mine expired without a problem. (well my account is scheduled to run out today, so we'll see if it worked on april 1st.)

the XM radio is great, sometimes seems like too many channels to go through. i wish they had a channel guide like satellite tv or something. its annoying to flip through all the stations. i know you can go through each category but somtimes its nice to know what's playing in a higher level.

I signed up to extend it. I paid for the 2 year option, which worked out to around $8 per month. Let's just hope XM does not go bankrupt in less than 2 years.

I'd rather spend the money on expanding my DVD-A/DTS disc collection.

I keep the XM flip-open brochure in my center console....just so I know what's what when I want it on top of all my 12 favorite XM channels already saved.

No, I only drive the car on weekends (mostly) and do not think that $10 per month is worth it. I also only liked about 3 stations with another 4 or so that were OK. Anyhow, I do not have cable TV yet!!

I enjoy the FM stations here in Houston and can always switch to CDs.

Exclamation

I did renew my XM with multiple years deal. Its sound/quality to me is better than radio's. Plus, I don't like to see something is not working in my car since I have calculated this XM subscription fee in the beginning of the purchase. My 0.02.

I "solved" that problem by setting my presets to the first channel of each grouping that I would like to listen to. That allows me to get within a few channels of anything that interests me... (Yes, I still have more channels than I can listen to effectively, but that isn't all bad either -- compared to the logical alternative <G>!)

Best,
