Question about 3v3 and switch mods

I'm sorry if this is a dumb question... but I tired searching however I couldn't find anything, honesty maybe I didn't look hard enough.

But I've seen people on this forum talk about modding their 3rd and 4th gear mods? and doing a 3v3 mod.

What exactly does that mean? I feel like I know cars pretty well but I have NO CLUE what these mods mean or do? Is it something everyone should do like a TSB? or is it something that you should do if you mod your car?

Can anyone help me understand this a little more?

Thanks,
Vince

both deal with the transmission (5AT, to be exact). The tranny's have failed enough to make the owners uncomfortable with the stock setup. So the 3x3 refers to draining and filling the ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid) 3 times each with something other than the stock fluid such as Redline.

The 3rd and 4th gear mods refer to the applicable tranny switch. These were found to be a possible culprit for the tranny issues. Replacing the stock 3rd and 4th pressure switches add life to our trannys.

as far as links, your on your own

Thanks Sirius.

Is the 3v3 a fill flush fill flush fill flush? All at one time? seems like a waste? interesting.

Is transmission failure a problem even at stock levels? or Only after you start add more power?

Yes, it's fill, drain, fill, drain, fill drain. You drain it, fill it, then drive around on the highway until you go through all the gears a few times then repeat. All these are easy precautions. Transmission problems has failures at stock levels, not just higher powered applications. Most of these failures happen from day to day driving stock. Look into adding a transmission cooler like what I did, or you can do a drain and fill (once) every 3rd oil change like I will be doing.
