Quartz interior question - was my car wrecked?

So I was just looking at some TL's for sale on the web, and noticed something. I found an '05 TL SSM with quartz (gray) interior, and noticed that the trunk has light gray carpet (which makes sense I guess). However, I have an '05 SSM w/ quartz interior, but my trunk has all black carpeting (or maybe really dark gray) but this other one was definitely a lighter gray.

For those with the quartz interior - what color is your trunk? I'm wondering if maybe my car was in an accident with original owner and they used a different color for the trunk carpeting? Nothing showed up on carfax, but I hear that's not the most reliable source.

Black/very dark gray, like your current car.

You will never know for sure unless you run a accident report on carfax.

there should be a vin number on your rear bumper. when you pop the trunk u should see a vin badge with vin # on top of the bumper. if its there, most likely hasnt been in an accident.

the TL has always had black carpeting in the trunk, reguardless of interior color. The only carpeting that changes with interior color is the headliner, floor carpeting in the cabin and floor-mats.

A carfax is in no ways the be-all-and-the-end-all source to find a vehicle's history. It'll help raise some red flags, but it's far from fool proof.

Only way to know is to check the car out yourself, or get a mechanic to do so.

Take it to carmax and get it appraised. Their car reports show damn near everything that carfax doesnt show.

Perhaps someone just changed out the carpet in the trunk. Maybe they damaged it, spilled something on it, or just wanted it to match the interior.
