Quartz Interior and Carbon Fiber Accents

I absolutely love the way the TL looks in Satin Silver Metallic, but the thing that really turned me off was the quartz interior and the carbon fiber accents. First, I think the quartz is too dark. It should be a much lighter shade of grey, like what BMW has. Second, those carbon fiber accents look too trendy. Sure the wood trim in the parchment and camel interiors looks fake, but wood trim never goes out of style whereas carbon fiber accents will look dated in only a few more years. I like it better when they just had the dark wood trim in all interiors.

Does anyone else think the quartz interior would look a lot better if it was lighter?

I have the quartz and I liked the Carbon Fiber so much I bought the ADDITIONAL carbon fiber kit that Acura sells that goes around the seat heater switch, the cup holder and the back vents

How does the additional CF trim look? I've been thinking about buying it.

it looks good on quartz. The one thing I liked about quartz is that it showed off the cf details and styling better. Not so sure if the cf highlights would add much to an ebony interior. a) I like the uniform black continuity. b) cf additions are not as noticeable.

One of my friends was checking out my TL the other day and he made the comment that Acura doesn't use real wood and uses the cheap aluminum trim. I told him that aluminum trim looks better with the ebony interior. He said Lexus uses real wood even with black interiors. (He has a '97 ES300). Of course it wasn't until later that week until I noticed the interior of the Lexus IS250/350 and what does it have? Standard aluminum trim and NO wood! (maple might be an option) Wish I knew it back then so I could shove it up his ass. Not to mention the dash and layout of the new IS looks suspiciously close to that of the TL.

The reason I'm really curious is I'm getting my TL(Anthracite) in 2 weeks and haven't decided on Ebony/Quartz yet for the interior.

Could be the lighting but that looks like ebony to me. If I get time this weekend I will take pics of the carbon fiber kit on my quartz interior

I like it in the front where it matches the stock acura parts but I'm not sure I like it on that rear console (on quartz) where it seems so obvious.

That is the exact reason why I only did the front console.

Actually I think the whole kit including the rear looks ok in a quartz. It adds to the styling. You have cf trim on the doors as well remember? I always liked how the trim is more noticeable in a quartz interior.

I agree. That's one of the reasons I chose the quartz. The aluminum is more noticeable in the ebony int ,and the CF really pops in the quartz. I don't think it needs to be a lighter shade (the quartz int) ,and have loved the carbon fiber look on cars for quite a while now and don't think it will look dated in a few years. Just my opinion.

Arrow Carbon Fiber in '06 Ebony Interior

I dont recommend getting these things from the dealer. I think they were like $200 or whatever. I paid full price whatever the parts people tell you. I didn't bother shopping around on this site when I should have. Anywayz ... they are just little plastic things with adhesive on the back. Nothing special ... but they do compliment the interior nicely!

I just had this done to my 3 day old 2006 TL. I also got the carbon fiber wheel installed and I love the overall look. I like things to match. I'll take pics this weekend (Quartz interior, Anthracite Ext).

Why do you not like the carbon fiber accents? Trendy? carbon fiber is not trendy.. it will and always will be used as the main material in making supercars

In my opinion, I never really liked wood trim to begin with... looks old.. doesn't make sense in a car.. we are not back in 1800's in the wooden stagecoach days. BMW interiors are hideous by the way... they haven't changed a bit
