Q: End of lease tire inspection?
Hi.
I have leased two Acura and I 'd like know how do they charge for tire wear when returning leased car.
According to Acura's Self Inspection Reference Card
Tires: Chargeable as follows
-Less than 4/32 inch of tread a t lowest point
If I use 36-42 month, will I have less than that?
Please let me know some of your experience or opinion.
Thank you.

I don't think it's a matter of how long you will lease the car, it's how many miles you will drive and how hard you drive your car on those tires.
My last two leases have been 42 months and I drive around 15K per year. Yes, I changed tires about a year or more before I turned my vehicles in.
However, doesn't the Honda Financial Services lease have a built-in $1,500 wear/damage waiver at the end? So, if nothing is wrong with your car, $1,500 should cover new tires.

#1. if my maxima lease return guidelines is anything similar to hondas, tires are not covered under the $1500 damage waiver.
#2. in my experience leasing an accord and maxima, i had to change my tires at least once. Both OEM tires wore down within 2 years. If you lease in the northeast kingdom, count on replacing a set. This is of course not the end all and be all of your situation, the key is to reevalutate the condition of your tires every year. It is a much better decision to replace your tires at the end of year 2 and get a year out of the tires than plop-in new ones at lease-end.
#3. If you've been following the 04TL OEM tire issue and drive a lot in snow, i believe you'll have to buy new tires anyway from a safety point of view. The tires you buy can and should be more durable than the OEMS.

Unless you have a death wish, you will replace your original tires before the end of lease. The OEMs don't last beyond 20,000-30,000 miles. Tire wear is not going to be an issue for you.

Your original tires should be toast by then. You will probably be on your second set.
I wonder why Acura could not find and engineer to round 4/32nds to 1/8th.:smackhead

I will drive my new TL 42K+ Miles.
I think I need to buy 4 set of Falken ZIEX ZE-512.
However, if Acura decide to replace all Turanza tires, then will they reimburse my tire expense?
If they don't replace them, I will keep those BS Turanza until 30,000 miles and replace it because if I have to replace tire once before I return the car, I will use better tire first, and then return with Turanza.
Thank you.

I think they will only aide those who have established a customer service record with ACS and made numerous complaints and visits to the service department however. Have you started this yet, if you have a TL?
I think you putting your EL42's back on the car and getting 10-15K out of them before you turn them in is a good plan. Better to get full use and fun use out of good tires than the EL42's if you're having problems.

I have leased plenty of cars, and as others have said, your OEM tires will be replaced well before your lease is up.
What I've done is get used tires (must be the same matching brand) that meet the tread requirements. I have a place that will do all 4, with mounting and balance for $100.00. The specialize in lease turn ins, so I imagine you might have a place like that up there as well.

Three Wheelin'
I think that the tire issue depends alot on tire care, use, and quality of tire to begin with. I have been leasing cars for 15 years now, do so for a 4 year period per car, and put on about 10k miles per year. So far the only car I had to replace the OEM's on was an 87 Taurus that came with Generals. My current 2kTL has Michelin Energy's that have been rotated regularly as well as frequent pressure checks. I will give it back or sell it in June without having to do anything with the current tires. FWIW
